I want to thank Ivan very much! The visit was great fun, and the view of Jupiter was best I've ever had!

His gear is very impressive, I'll think about hooking my laptop to the scope. I hope my friend who came with us has caught the astronomy bug!

Now I will stand the Swedish cold during observing somewhat easier, since Ivan told me about alligators at his dark place 8)

I'm back home and have almost recovered from the jet lag smile No mosquitoes or crocodiles here, (relatively) warm and (almost) dark.

Still remembering the view of Antares: a dazzling yellow/orange star with small light-green spark of the companion right below it. Much, much more beautiful than I expected! I only regret that I didn't ask Ivan to use more power.

Very nice report, Mike!

M24, I've seen the dark nebula in the area before but not as well as tonight. Plus there were so many stars visible. You can also tell that there are a lot of uncharted dark nebula intermixed with the stars besides the 2 or 3 larger ones on SA2000.

So, I didn't dream it up!

Let's not forget that cluster are three-dimentional, and trying to guess or imagine their real shape in space is much more interesting and productive that joining the dots trying to see butterfiles and such.

At low power you will see two ~6m stars near 4m Lambda Aquarii. They build an almost isoceles and almost right-angled triangle with Lambda. The bluest of the two is Uranus. The disc is not difficult to see at high power even in 80mm, but it is small.
