M88 and neighborhood

Wow, it never hurts to observe regardless! So I looked up M88 in The Year-Round Messier Marathon Field Guide (Willman-Bell 1997, 98, 99) and see I had found an erratum on p. 134 and corrected that in the margin? The 8x50 finder sim erroneously labels the finder field for M88 as M84-86. Now I'm trying to remember how and when I noticed that! If I'm correct, it got thru 3 printings undetected. If anyone can confirm/deny my margin note, please let us know! I can see where a mistake like that could possible trip someone up right in the middle of a Marathon? Anyway, nice picture, Rolando. I LOVE galaxies! Tom

The International Conspiracy ON GW...

Hi Rod, I worked as a scientist near all of my life (mostly aerospace and defense stuff) and recall from childhood that Science/Scientists are Supposed To question Everything! Especially those things that we have an opinion on or vested interest in. Heck, that's why we Still call it the THEORY of Relativity, etc. and to this day keep testing and trying to disprove it. Yet pseudo-scientific activists are literally trying to outlaw questions that challenge their hidden agendas or plain pompous stupidity. Scientists are supposed to welcome and even Seek disagreement... Regarding the Global Warming, now known as Blessed Climate Change: It's certainly an intriguing and complex scientific an sociological/psychological problem/issue. But I've just seen WAY too many scientists stoking their own pet Sugar Daddy studies on this and myriad other specialties over the decades. As Richard Feynman counseled his students: [DON'T let the special interest bossed steer your integrity into the gutter!] Politicians are dragging the proles around by their noses on this one. Tom

Star Wars

Reminds me of the endless stream of Space Alien shows on the History Chanel. Today's on Crop Circles. Sure, couple Brits show how they made a bunch using strings, stomp boards, rollers ... but then the experts insist that "Well, OK - maybe some are fake but there are Real ones too --- crafted by Space Aliens with Descending Electromagnetic Vortex Fields." How can we have been so BLIND! Some day a farmer with a shot gun is going to take out one of those vandals. Then we will know the Truth. Star Wars is at least fantasy with poetic license --- or IS it?!

Thanx for the feedbacks! Sun is fun because couple small grab & go OTAs, Vixen Porta with JMI Train n Trak, out to the deck, few snapshots and back inside. Took practice to get my technique down, but now any time sun is interesting and favorable --- immediate gratification. Tom
