Suggestions on Supplier for OTA...

You could try Parallax Instruments. They do quite a bit of custom work and I notice that they also build their own classical cassegrains. They are also an Astromart sponsor.

Fraud case resolved ***** WHEW*****

Posted By Joplin Motisher-Chittenden

That jerk still owes me a couple hundred bucks from a deal over a year ago. He pulled a bait and switch on our deal so I ended up with a different telescope than the deal was for and he never refunded the difference in price as promissed, despite dozens of emails from me. Do not even consider dealing with this person. Thankfully he hasn't had the guts to post any ads on astromart that I know of.

Color and the Orion 80mm ED - is this normal?

Posted By Joplin Motisher-Chittenden

Sounds like lateral color to me. It is a common problem with many eyepieces, even Naglers. Your eye needs to be centered to minimize it. I've got an 80mm Vixen fluorite apo that won't show any on axis color abberations but almost any eyepiece will show some degree of off axis lateral color with it, even more so if my eye isn't centered. Some people are deffinitely more sensitive to this effect than others.

Coolpix / Pentax XL adapter

I used my Nikon Coolpix 995 and the homemade adapter with a Pentax XL 7mm eyepiece to capture this image of the moon.
