They ARE engaging surreptitiously in Election Tampering by making sure that NO negative stories about Joe Biden or anyone in his family are propagated across social media, a media whereby MANY people get their information.

That's called suppression of free speech, but yet do you see the resident leftist apologist, TDS suffering, Staunch Promoter of the US Constitution speak out here about what is going on with the Press and their tyranny to shut down entire Newspapers on Google, Twitter, and Facebook?

My guess is that you'll never hear his outrage, because I don't believe he even has any outrage over the blatant, One-sided reporting in which the corrupt leftist press is engaging.

Any REAL believer and supporter of the US Constitution would be appalled as you and I are, but he's apparently not.

His silence on this matter speaks VOLUMES!!  wink
I gotta hand it to you Rich, you have kept your promise and avoided replying to me for a couple of days.  Still, during this time, you have referred to me in the third person at least half a dozen times.  Maybe more.  It is obvious that I still live in your head even though you have avoided responding to me directly.  I guess I should consider myself lucky.

This  all started when I pointed out that you had made what I viewed to be a racist argument.   Like I said then, I could be wrong and the line of argument I thought was racist in context might have been entirely benign.  Rather than going ape-shit as you did last week, why don't you explain to us why your Puerto Rico poverty/crime/corrupt governance line of argument (including the gratuitous Liberia crack)  was not a racist argument in the context of our Constitutional law discussion?

Dave
Dave, why do you think that ACB is going to inflict her belief system on others?  Is it merely because she has a belief system you disagree with?  RBG had a belief system too you know.  We all have belief systems, religious people, agnostics and atheists alike.

ACB has been guided by the law throughout her stellar legal career.  I sure would like to hear about it if you think otherwise.

Others want it to be more like a labor union, where you joined it, whether you want to or not, and follow its rules, the claim being you get the benefits of the union whether you want them or not so you are obliged to join it.

This analogy breaks down in many areas but it describes those that want to impose Christian doctrine on unwilling citizens and those that don't.

I, and the Bible, are with the former and opposed to the latter.
Hi Russ:

Good points.

I do not think that ACB (or any judge of national prominence) has any desire to impose Christian doctrine on unwilling citizens.  Obviously, this is all about abortion, or maybe the death penalty.  Those who oppose ACB's nomination based upon her presumed position regarding Roe v. Wade like to spin any discussion of the legal legitimacy of Roe as an "imposition of Christian doctrine."  That take is unadulterated political spin, and I'm not sure David even knows it.

In general, this sort of political spin does not bother me.  Politics is a hardball game after all.  When this political spin is applied to call into question the fitness of a stellar judge like ACB it pisses me off.  This slander of ACB's fitness for the bench is exactly the same as some hypothetical fool questioning the legal qualifications or stature of RBG, just because he disagreed with her concerning the second amendment.

Pretty sad that you would vote for politicians, whom you know don't value human innocent children in the womb and permit the killing of the unborn to satisfy your hatred of one man.

You'll vote for the party that makes taxpayers send money to an agency that is based upon killing children in the womb, and supports said agency of death, whose sole purpose is to wipe out human life in the womb.

That is what they exist for, and you tacitly support them by voting for the party that sanctions the killing of human babies in the womb.

People who do this, have no morals, they laugh about it some times.  Would you like me to send you the videos of their conferences where one abortion "doctor"
confesses in front of the other "doctors" at the conference being held in a hotel, that one time an occurrence actually bothered her, when a baby's eyeball fell on the floor at her feet after she ripped the baby out of the womb, killing it?

That's a real treat, that video there.

But hey, you turn your back and continue sending your political contributions to the party that supports the selling of body parts of human babies after they were aborted for PROFIT.

That is beyond sad.  It is tacit approval.  You have to live with that.

I'm not even religious, but my ethics and morals wouldn't allow me to support a party, or an action that fiendish.
And you'll vote for the party that pays lip service to opposing abortion, but has no desire to take any actual measures to minimize the practice.  Abortion will be limited when inspired leaders and inspired young women convince their pregnant sisters that adoption is a better alternative.  Until that happens, all of the debate, including your faux outrage, is just hot air.

You ought to acknowledge that applying the 1st Amendment to private enterprise is a tricky business.

FWIW, I think that this is the 1st time in my A-Mart experience that the R didn't win.  This year is surprising given the old-codger white male demographic that hangs out here.

Unless they both manipulated their own photo, there is a huge problem, no matter whom they are supporting.

Amy Barrett learns of her true place in History....

Judge Barrett, I feel genuinely sorry for you. You have strong credentials and merits. However, you are here not because of them. You are here only because you are a token, a pawn.

Throughout the rest of the history of this country, your name will have an asterisk by it, denoting that your place on the Supreme Court is illegitimate, the result of hypocritical, amoral conniving to turn the Court into a far-right political rubber stamp by two-faced mandarins of a Republican Party destined to go down in flames, consumed by its own internal rot and the fire of its own decrepitude.

You will forever be denied the opportunity to compete truly on your own merits. You are in that seat only because, despite all your protests to the contrary, your record has convinced the GOP king-makers that you will be a reliable robot to help them implement their dark, Hobbesian, plutocratic vision for America.
Object and hide behind high-flown jurisprudential rhetoric all you want, but no one will believe you.

Everyone, Democrat and Republican, knows that you are before us only because the history of your teaching, your scholarship, and your public statements has convinced Trump, McConnell, Leonard Leo, the Koch brothers, and all the billionaire backers of the Federalist Society and the right-wing dark money machine that you will be a reliable Handmaid, doing their bidding even if you yourself don't think so or don't realize it.

I feel sorry for you because you will take the seat of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a titan of American jurisprudence, who will go down in history as everything you will not: independent, her own person, dedicated to the marrow of her bones to equal rights for all, and an implacable foe of anyone, no matter how well-funded or how well-cloaked behind anonymous shell corporations, who tried to push any American into second-class status, any woman into less than full equality, any political activity into the shadows, any marginalized minority into permanent subservience, and any religious bigotry into political power.

You represent the opposite of Justice Ginsburg in every imaginable way: the way you got here, the way you will be counted on to rule, and the ways in which your presence on the Court threatens everything Justice Ginsburg stood for.

This is a sad, sad fate for a woman as accomplished as you. I am profoundly sorry for you, and for our country as you take your illegitimate, corrupted, forever asterisked seat on the Supreme Court."

Dave:

This smug, self-serving and mysogynistic supposed "speech"  is the biggest raft of bull shit I have ever read in my life.  There will be no asterisk by ACB's name.  She will be a credit to the Supreme Court for decades.  RBG would kick this Donaldson chap in the balls if she were alive to read such thinly veiled misogyny, and if he actually existed.  Shame on you for re-posting this.

By the way, the purported author does not exist and this speech was never made.  https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/rob-donaldson-amy-coney-barrett/

Double shame on you.
