Saudis Still Funding Terrorists

Posted By Rod Kaufman

The same people we are fighting in Afghanistan are still being funded by Saudi-based "charities":

A "top-source of funding" of Al Queda and the Taliban, at that...

The Iranian Proposal

Posted By Rod Kaufman

The Iranian regime proposes the following:
In exchange for GLOBAL nuclear disarmament, it will discuss every aspect of its nuclear program, including the military aspects it claims it doesn't have:

The Ego has landed

That's the Drudge Report headline today, about Barak Obama his his ignominious defeat for the Chicago Olympics. I heard Obama got the least number of votes and he's out in the first round. What's so funny is watching the MSM's reaction. They are just aghast. They can't believe Obama failed so miserably. Obama's presidency is in a shambles; his domestic policy is failing, his economic policy is tanking, and his foreign policy is coming apart at the seams. They were SOOOO hoping to be able to report something positive about Obama, but no. The whole world screwed it up and voted for CHANGE.

Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Barak Hussein Obama!

Your broad brush strokes are wrong, to say the least.
The economy: while still in the recovery phase from the Bush disaster, with unemployment being high, the latter is still exceeded by the the record holder of recent times: that of Ronald Reagan. The G20 members all support Obama's approach on the global economy and there are more NATO troops in Afghanistan than there ever were under the Bush administration. His stance on Iran is picking up even more foreign support. And he will get health care reform passed despite the Republican party of no deal...

Predictions on Passage of HealthCare Bill

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Will we get a bill passed by Thanksgiving? Christmas?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091003/ap_on_go_co/us_health_care_overhaul
I'd guess by Christmas or before the end of the year. I think congress wants this wrapped up before elections in 2010.

Gosh darnit it, where's Palin when you need her? Oops, I forgot, she resigned. And the rest of the Republican leadership? What Republican leadership?

Swiftboaters Attack HealthCare

Posted By Rod Kaufman

So who's behind the ads seen on CNN and elsewhere that are attacking health care overhaul?
From the latest issue of Consumer's Report:
1. CPR: (probably the most obnoxious ad I've seen thus far), this is the ad where some bald guy represents the so-called "conservative for patients rights." A hypothetical bureaucrat makes health care decisions for a doctor and his patient. Yeah, right. According to CR, CPR was founded in March by Rick Scott, former CEO OF Columbia/HCA health care, which under Scott paid 1.7 billion settlements for submitting false medicare claims and paying kick-backs to doctors. Scott has contributed 5 million of his own money and the PR agency he uses reportedly masterminded the 2004 swift boat campaign against John Kerry.
2. Patients United Now: Their infamous commercial has some pathetic woman from Canada claiming she would be dead of a brain tumor if it weren't for her America doctors and her exodus from Canadian health care. According to CR, what is known is American doctor removed a benign cyst that threatened her vision. Among its other projects is a "hot air tour" aimed at disputing global warming.

Health Care Cost VS Cost of Iraq War

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Any body curious to know?
Health Care Proposal:
http://cnnwire.blogs.cnn.com/2009/10/07/key-committee-health-care-bill-projected-to-cost-829-billion/
Iraq:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/19/washington/19cost.html
I'd take the health care proposal any day of the week for overall lower costs than the cost of the war in Iraq. Sure health care will have its heavy hitters like the insurance and pharmaceutical companies racking up profits but Iraq has had Haliburton and the coalition of the willing morphed into the coalition of the billing!

Were The Lessons Implemented?

Posted By Rod Kaufman

More on the Taliban attack on an isolated American base from CNN analyst Peter Bergen tonight:
http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/10/07/afghanistan.soldiers/index.html
Why does it appear the Republicans and conservatives have so much faith in the decisions of the commanders on the ground, seemingly 100% of the time?
Generals and commanders are not infallible. Truman fired MacArthur during the Korean war. Westmoreland was replaced by Abrams in Vietnam. How many generals have we had in Iraq?

Two Positive Changes

Posted By Rod Kaufman

1. The deficit, defying the economic wizards in the country, including the OMB, DROPPED more than a billion this past month. The last time I recall that happening was when a fiscal conservative was in office: William Jefferson Clinton!
2. NATO troops in Afghanistan now number 40,000, the highest number ever, thanks to the efforts of the Obama administration. The more NATO troops, the better.
