Republicans Go Target Shooting

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Their targets: Arabs with regalia and Democrats:

US/Afghan Raid/Japan

Posted By Rod Kaufman

It's good to know joint US/Afghan forces took one to the enemy. It's also good to know Japan is funding the salaries off all Afghan police for a half a year along with funding for infrastructure and agriculture.

This stuff ought to get headlines too...

Protecting Utah From Republicans

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Looks like Utah has been saved for awhile, at least until the next Republican administration get in to screw the place:
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-utah-leases9-2009oct09,0,580832.story
It figures the most conservative state in the country can't even recognize when it's being helped by not having its own land raped and pillaged by the likes of Republicans and their cronies...

California's Water Woes

Posted By Rod Kaufman

A state problem requiring a state solution:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091012/ap_on_bi_ge/us_california_water
So much for a previous thread blaming the debacle on Obama. It was ludicrous to have done so.
"The predicament will only worsen as the state's population grows."
Stop the urban sprawl, stop the over development or face the consequences with mother nature. Do it voluntarily or consume every last drop of a precious natural resource and face the music.
Not to worry, I assume they'll pass some half-baked compromise that will simply kick the can down the road just like they did with our state budget fiasco. They ought to be advocating water conservation, no to more development along with birth control but why deal with reality?...

1913 and Fox News

Posted By Rod Kaufman

What's this administration and the congress, led by John McCain, coming to? Instead of focusing on two wars, the economy and health care, they're trying to right a wrong that occurred in 1913?
http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/10/19/boxer.pardon/index.html
I mean if a couple of people in the White House can't contest what Fox news, of all people, have to say because they're taking their eyes off the ball in Afghanistan, Iraq, and the global economy when they do, then surely the White House and congress are guilty of doing the same on this one. I mean an entire resolution passed by both houses and sent to the president? Why wasn't Fox news consulted? We ought to have a congressional investigation to determine why priorities aren't being set with the resources available. How much money was spent on this resolution and how much time was allocated to its content? And just look at all that time and effort they've misdirected towards Fox news...

"I have continued to say a decision will be made in the coming weeks as the president goes through an examination of our policy," [Robert Gibbs told reporters.]

"Obama has been conducting an intensive review of US war strategy in Afghanistan with senior national security officials."

Here's the major reason why it's taking some time:
http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/10/18/emanuel.afghanistan/index.html
That, an the fact that the US has to be sure Afghanistan has a stable government in the first place, before we commit further troops to provide for its security and growth. Of course I realize conservatives and Republicans in general see only one world, that which ends at the tip of their own nose, but there is a whole other government in Afghanistan that we must deal with before decisions are made.

GOP: Obama is really Nixon

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Of course, the Republican senator has no proof of anything he says but that obviously doesn't cause him a moment's pause. Oh, and I can see from the article where all the hype is coming from on the dispute between the White House and Fox news: Karl Rove. Figures...
