Here's Gov Christie refusing to say if he believes in evolution. Of course it doesn't really make a difference what an individual believes but I guess many conservatives are hung up on evolution and to acknowledge it has a political price to pay.

Maybe the guy is right...

If the administration allows fracking on federal lands in Wyoming, Montana, etc. According to maps most of the land in the western basin states belongs to the feds and would require government approval. There are also concerns about any harm to the water table from the chemicals used in the process. There seems to be some difference of opinions on the impact, obviously. It would be nice for us to tell the middle east to go kiss our buttocks since oil is all they are good for.

I guess we're screwed. Since the Republicans couldn't come up with a viable candidate, Obamacare is going to steamroll right over us. Well there is 2016.

I don't see a problem with McConnell's suggestions. There has to be some cuts in these programs if there is going to be any serious spending cuts. You Democrats will like that the premiums for wealthy Americans could be increased. As for the cost-of-living increases, I would guess many American workers aren't getting that these days. There is no painless way to cut the deficit. Both sides have to make concessions.

Voter's may or may not be stupid, but they appear to be immune from economics on election day.

I would expect that some voters weren't confident that Romney would be able to bring us out of the fiscal mess. His economic plan was vague and he and the Republican party had been painted so well by the Democrats.

Fundamentalist Islam is a boil on the world's butt and will eventually HAVE to come to a head. Israel's planning settlements in the captured territories is a sign that there will not be a Palestinian state so any cease fire is only temporary. Syria's conflict seems to be a magnet drawing both sides and their surrogates. The West's saber rattling over WMD reminds me of the prelude (and the excuse) to the invasion of Iraq. Now is as good of a time as any to put Islam theocracies, Iran, and Russia (and its toady France) in their place. Then we can worry about reducing the deficit and may even be able to cut a little from our defense budget. The US needs to set the time so we won't be caught off guard.

Can anyone here deny it's not destined to occur? I'm usually not so hawkish but this has been coming since Israel's inception. Extreme Islam has been a mosquito biting us, drawing blood and annoying us. Let's swat it. We know who backs them up. Instead of this tit for tat and nibbling around the edges, let's be done with it.

I don't think the administration really plans on making substantive cuts in spending needed to help reduce the deficit. They cry for higher taxes and when the Republicans balk they paint them as obstructionists. Plus no members of congress who plan on seeking re-election will have the balls to make cuts that hurt. As you pointed out, we are screwed. I feel sorry for the younger generation - it is going to severly impact them.
