Solar images from October 3, 2004

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

The sun has been relatively quiet these past few days. Only 2 or 3 spot groups. I managed to get images of the two largest groups yesterday (Oct 3). I really need a large, complax group to give the ED100 a good workout with...**G**

Coronado PST

Posted By Paul Maxson

I just had the opportunity to look through a Coronado PST. I was very impressed with the visual images!! We saw several flares off the disk and 3-4 filaments on the surface of the sun. It looks like a nice investment for H-a solar viewing.

Lunar crater Atlas

Posted By Paul Maxson

I am re-processing some images from earlier in the year. It's hard to believe that it has been almost a year since I did this image of the crater Atlas. For some reason it was a popular crater back in January. Anyway, here is an image I made with the C8 at F/35. Wish the 9.25" performed as well!!

Saturn from January 2004

Posted By Paul Maxson

More re-processing and I came up with this Saturn shot on January 28, 2004. It was shot with the C8, F/30 and enlarged 3x in Paint Shop pro...Not bad considering how much I blew it up.

Wes's image at LPOD

Posted By Paul Maxson

Catch Wes Higgins' outstanding image of Gassendi on today's LPOD!! Fabulous! Compare it to John Sussenbach's image that is linked within the text. Both images equal and exceed Lunar Orbiter resolution.

Congratulations!!

The Sun and Uranus

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all!!

The sun has a very nice group just coming onto the face I managed to image this morning despite 15-20mph winds. Also, I got an image of Uranus last night under simlar conditions.

Next I need to get out in the early morning and try for Saturn. smile

Seeing wasn't great as we had thin clouds.

Here is an image of AR682 today (Oct 16). Seeing went from really nice for this image to average or less by the end of the 4th image I took, all within 10 minutes!! Anyway, this one turned out fairly good.
