trying to decide

Posted By ROBERT MOORE

Hi Steve. Well I got an XT10"i for my 10 year old a little over a year ago with the computer, an am glad I did. From the first night out we were looking at DSO, having the computer helped keep her interest until she was able to learn the sky. Now she takes one of her "4" scopes out, and has a ball, and if for some reason she can't find what she was looking for on her own, she can always start up the computer and see where she went wrong. I think it's a great learning tool, if you don't depend on it 100% of the time.

Are 8" Dobs hard to track with?

Posted By ROBERT MOORE

Steve, the thing you have to remember is, to think of pushing or pushing the object around in the field and not move the scope to the object. Thats because in a newt the image is upside down and back woulds. and in IMHO it's just easer to get your head around.

Wednesday's Large Prominence, 2006/2/15

Hi Dave; I'm glad you were able to get a photo, I was looking at the same Prominence and was not happy that my cam was not working.
I was think that the prominence looked a little like a pengen at one point.

Hi Chuck, I have a green 5mw it use's AAA batters and i use the lithium type , they work better in the cold. 5 mw is all you need for astronomy. i never have seen red used for a pointer in astronomy. I think the 5mw are all about the same.
