Re: Why are we afraid to call a duck a "duck"?

Could somebody explain to me why the gov't is so afraid to label Dr. Hasan a terrorist? Seems like we don't use the phrase "war on terror" any more. Is it because anti-terrorism was a "Bush thing" and now we're trying to show how we've evolved beyond that way of thinking? I mean, c'mon, even the terrorists are lavishing praise upon Dr. Hasan and claiming him as one of their own. Maybe I'm simple-minded, but didn't we use 9/11 as a rallying point that drew the nation together and strengthened our resolve as a nation to strike back? Why wouldn't the Obama administration want to do the same thing to draw support to their cause in Afghanistan? Inquiring minds want to know!

Why cannot Americans accept their role as the grandest terrorists in human history? Stretching back from Shock and Awe the mother of all terrorists acts to the napalmed screams coming from the rice paddies of Viet Nam. Three million dead gooks, dinks, slopes as they were called rotting in the countryside. Admit it friend we have a greater technological means for terrorism. Hasan's disregard for American life was a mere echo of the decades long rampage that America has been on. If we were to count all of the scalps hanging from Miss Liberty's belt either through direct military involvement, covert actions, and furnishing munitions and weaponry to our allies we would be agog at the staggering numbers. Check out pages 247-250 concerning the use of white phosphorous by the Israelis in the Goldstone report. Just why do you think they hate us so? Fortunately for us they do not have the means of death dealing that we possess. That is the only difference between they and us. We have a wealth of weapons to be utilized whereas they have to improvise. This realization would be the end of terrorism for when we stop it so shall they!
Erwin,
If you read the religionofpeace website, you'll find that many of the 14000 plus deadly terrorist attacks occurring after 9/11 have been carried out in countries that have nothing to do with either the United States or Israel. Buddhists, Hindus and others have been targeted and butchered. The fact is when radical Islam checks in a lot of people check out, permanently...

Huckabee vs Rush on Obama

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Scott Satko said:

Big deal, Rod. I'm a conservative who'd like to go on record as saying that I don't agree with everything Rush says or does either. But then, it's not like it really matters, as I have even less political clout than Mike Huckabee!
It is a big deal because many people think they get their "news" from Rush because they can't distinguish his opinions from facts.

California's Budget Crisis Again!

Posted By Rod Kaufman

http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2009-11/22/content_12520757.htm
Just wanted to let you know how my little corner of the world is contributing to the ever escalating deficit.
Hmm, where to begin...
Ok , here we go. For starters, the county of Los Angeles has decided we need more libraries. Lot's of them. Afterall, who could possibly be against more libraries? Well, guess what, we really, really don't need them here in Santa Clarita because we already have them. The main one in Valencia that's been here for decades has been doing an outreach program because nobody seems to use it, except on weekends. During the week you could shoot moose in the place. The county evidently figured if no one was using the place, perhaps they should build new ones and people would come, kind of like a field of dreams. So the county built one right here in Castaic. The new library serves as a meeting place for toddlers and their moms. I kid you not, the place looks romper room. Add captain kangaroo and it would be complete. But it only cost one million bucks, chump change these days. Since the county evidently had money left over, they've decided to build two more, one in nearby canyon country and the other in nearby Newhall. All four of the communities, Santa Clarita, Castaic, Canyon Country and Newhall were previously served by the one main library in Valencia, the one that nobody uses, except on weekends. I should qualify the latter statement by noting that Newhall already had its own library so they're tearing it down and putting up a new multilevel building down the street from the old one. I hope the county understands that the facility in Newhall should probably be accompanied by classrooms for English since most of the residents in Newhall speak Spanish.
As for the new library in Canyon Country, I hope the millions spent on it includes state of the art security systems and anti-graffiti wall paint since it sits in a gang-infested area.
Now that they're finished with their library projects, they've decided upon a new courthouse for Santa Clarita at a cost of FIFTY-EIGHT MILLION DOLLARS. Among the reasons offered for building the new courthouse is that the present one sits next to the main library in Valencia, the one that nobody uses, except on weekends when the courthouse is closed. The expressed concern is that some bad guys might escape into the library next door. However, the little detail that they forgot is the fact that the present courthouse sits next to the Santa Clarita Sheriff's Department and there's never been an incident involving the library and the courthouse. Additionally, the courthouse sees civil cases as well as criminal ones and the former don't require additional security.
FIFTY EIGHT MILLION BUCKS for a new courthouse? What's wrong with a couple of prefabs as additions to the old courthouse? Especially when it comes to hearing civil cases!
No wonder we have a huge deficit in the state, the spending just doesn't stop!...

Arizona Right Behind California

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Republican dominated and controlled Arizona is next in line after California for massive budget deficits:

Ah yes, the fiscally responsible Republican conservatives show us all how it's done in their state.
Maybe the tea bag party should schedule something in that state along with Sarah Palin, Flip Romney and the rest of the clowns in the GOP...

Anti-Minaret Proposal APPROVED

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Can you imagine what would happen in this country if we enacted the same constitutional provision as the Swiss just did:
http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1259243028425&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull
We'd all be accused of spreading hate while these misunderstood souls are merely practicing freedom of speech:
http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/11/05/radicals.mosque/index.html#cnnSTCText
Hmm, let's examine the reasons behind the Swiss constitutional provision:
1."Muslims don't just practice religion, they make increasingly political and legal demands." Sharia law, anyone?
2."The minarets our bayonets" according to the Turkish prime minister.
3. France, Germany and other European countries are banning Burkas and Hijabs.
So the Muslims recruiting for radical Islam outside a New York mosque are tolerated while the rest of us are spreading hate if we oppose Sharia law or CAIR? :S

Huckabee Commuted This Guy?

Posted By Rod Kaufman

I can hear it now if the maniac who just killed four law enforcement officers had his sentence commuted by Obama or somebody in his administration. I don't care if the guy was 17 at the time, he should have been(if he wasn't)tried as an adult and served his sentence.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091201/ap_on_re_us/us_huckabee_horton
And, an extremely unfortunate aside to this story: I read from conservative posters on this form, (Norby I believe), who advocate that those tragedies involving a lone gunman and groups of people could have been averted if the people were armed and could have practiced self defense. Well, obviously not in this case where we had four armed officers trained to deal with violent situations at a moment's notice and were still unable to respond to a single gunman.
This crap about commuting violent offenders and/or letting them out early on parole has got to stop...
