The February 25th Event

Posted By Rod Kaufman

The invitations are out and it appears the GOP leadership can't decide whether or not to attack the event before it happens or actually attend it with the intention of making it a productive meeting:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100213/ap_on_bi_ge/us_health_care_overhaul
It appears the senate Republican minority leader has stopped crying over the loss of his aide long enough to think it might be a good idea to actually take the president of the United States at his word and work on a bipartisan health care proposal for the betterment of the nation. Who'd have thought?...

Biden Versus Cheney

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Cheney stated today the Obama administration was "dead wrong on Iraq". Are you kidding me? Has he forgotten about the WMDs that didn't exist? Has he forgotten about the smoking gun in the form of a mushroom cloud? Or his infamous statement that the US would be welcomed into Iraq "with rose pedals at our feet" Cheney, the inventor and the one and only leader of the fourth branch of government, needs a serious reality check...

Golly, What Would They Pick?

Posted By Rod Kaufman

The Tea Bag Party needs to pick a party.
Gee, wizz. Which party might they pick?
The answer evidently eludes Sarah:

Hatch Outraged: Utah Land Protected

Posted By Rod Kaufman

The Obama administration wants to consider potential monuments in Utah to prevent the land from being plundered by corporate interests and Oral Hatch is outraged? It doesn't appear from the comments in the article that too many seem to agree with him so just who does he really represent?
http://www.sltrib.com/news/ci_14435850
Can't you just wait to see Flip Romney elected so he can stand there with Oral and shovel the first scoop of earth that turns the natural arches in Utah into a gravel pit?

What a coincidence...

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Well, it looks like the repair process of broken government has begun, thanks to the newest member of the senate, you know the guy who wouldn't advertise himself as a Republican when he stumped for office:

Senate to NASA: Go somewhere...

Posted By Rod Kaufman

I think NASA ought to continue to develop and implement robotic technology for exploring Mars. It would allow for R/D in propulsion systems and advanced robotic applications which would yield more data when the spacecraft(s) land on the red planet(or elsewhere), certainly a worthy goal...

Just What Do These Guys Do?

To deserve the bonuses they get?

I mean do they negotiate the sale of American companies to China? Discover a cure for cancer? Reduce the unemployment rate? Sustain the national economy and improve the gross domestic product? What?

Lessons in Hypocrisy: Utah Again

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Utah is back at it. First, we had Hatch calling the White House whining about the mere possibility that the federal government might want to create a national monument from federal land. Today we get this: "There are times when the state needs to push back against continued encroachment from the federal government". So they enact some cockamamie gun bill:
http://www.sltrib.com/news/ci_14477838
Yesterday, however, Utah was screaming for the feds when a private company wanted to dump nuclear waste(you know the kind of waste you might get when you do what Republicans want and build nuclear power plants all over the place)into the state:

Same thing with the stimulus funding:

Hope and Change at Fannie Mae

76.2 billion? Is that all?
It's dwarfed by the 500 billion bailout of the financial industry:

And I don't believe most of those fat cats are liberals, either...
