Fox News Poll: "Trump A Historically Bad President"

Should be fun!  The seeing is simply terrible here, for planets this low, and to the SW over the mountains too.  I tried to view through my big refractor yesterday, but both planets were just bouncy jumbled messes!  So, this time of year this is definitely a naked eye or binoculars event here in Colorado.  It is totally cool either way.

HI Darian:

That's a big advantage for astronomy and it's warmer too!  The seeing was so bad here on Saturday, And the planets were so low, you couldn't make out Saturn's rings!  (Forget about the Cassini division!)  Saturn was just a football shaped yellow blob that jumped around a lot!  Worst seeing I've ever seen, although I wouldn't normally look at the planets this low in the sky.

p.s.  The Clear Sky Chart shows me as having ok seeing (3/5) tonight.  Monday and Sunday we were in the grey (1/5) zone...

Poll: who will be taking the Covid vaccine?

Simple as that.
That is a perfectly reasonable concern.  Who is Gabbard worried about jumping in line?

Here in Colorado at least, the distribution plan seems very reasonable.  You and me likely won't be eligible until this summer.  Everyone who has any risk factor at all will be before us.  All as it should be.

The seeing was much better tonight.   Here is a close up taken with my 180 mm refractor.

Here is a wide angle taken with a regular DSLR through my Traveler.

It was a nice view here from around 5:45 or so.
I thought they would look closer too.  The separation today was 6 arcminutes  (1/10 of a degree).  I read somewhere today that 1/10 degree is about the width of a dime held edgewise at arms length.  J

This first one is with a 180 mm refractor and a ZWO ASI 290 planetary imaging camera.  No Barlow or Powermate, so I could get them both in the same frame.

Thanks!  I learned a lot about taking an image of two planets at once last night.  Not something you get much practice at.  If the weather holds, I have an idea for a much nicer close up, with the moons.  We'll see.  The pair will still be really close tonight.  From Stellarium's really cool and really free web app:

The clearsky clock for Colorado Springs still shows Poor "seeing".  It appears just as Poor "seeing" in Boulder, Denver, Golden, and all across the front range.  Friday night/ Early Saturday Morning appears to be a bit better here in Colorado.

The clearsky chart does indicate that the seeing indicator might not be so bad with smaller instruments.  It indicates 11 inch and larger instruments will be affected more than smaller instruments.

I will try an 8 inch scope tonight and see how it goes.  Low in the sky though and with the CS chart, probably won't be so good.
The Clear Sky Chart showed seeing of 1/5 on Sunday too, and it was in fact terrible.  Yesterday was predicted to be 3/5 and it was really nice for Colorado.  That was a lucky break!  I find the CSC to be pretty reliable, so, if today is 1/5 again...  Always worth a try though.  Good luck!
