Powell Wants Answers

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Colin Powell wants answers to questions like how someone called "curveball" could concoct a story that helped spur the US to war without questioning the veracity of the man behind it.
Well, he won't be getting any help from former president Bush who declined to comment via a spokesman. Cheney and Rumsfeld won't return calls, either. Did you really expect otherwise?
But good for Powell. I hope he keeps pushing until he uncovers the truth...

Trump To Announce in June

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Trump will decide whether or not to run for president in June and announce his decision. From what I heard last night on CNN, it looks like he'll go for it.
Two things I did like:
1. He'd put a 25% tax on all Chinese products and he'd go after them for manipulating their currency.
2. He would get up close and personal with the OPEC minsters and tell them to knock off their BS.

Ayatollah Kamenei:Uprisings:"Islamic"

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Mideast uprisings: "Definitely Islamic and should be reinforced". That's how the Ayatollah attributes the present middle east turmoil. Since they're Islamic and should be reinforced, why shouldn't the uprisings in Iran be reinforced as well? :S

ACLU/CAIR Suit vs FBI

Posted By Rod Kaufman

I can't believe how screwed-up this whole deal actually is:
First, the FBI(fumbling bureaucratic incompetents)recruits a known felon to infiltrate local Mosques seeking information on possible extremist activities. While law enforcement has been known to use informants(snitches)who have questionable backgrounds, they also have been known to use undercover officers who, in fact, know what they're doing while they're doing it. But, in this case, the FBI recruits a felon who winds up suing them while the ACLU and CAIR team-up to initiate a class action lawsuit against the FBI claiming, in part, that the FBI has violated the 1st amendment by targeting a particular religious group. Part of the proposed settlement is that any intelligence gathered by the FBI be destroyed, which is nuts if it impacts our national security.
I don't think things get too much worse than the above but...

GOP Budget Cuts Would Hit US Economy

Posted By Rod Kaufman

The GOP budget cuts would cut the growth of the US economy in half this year, according the investment form Goldman Sachs. The Republicans reject the independent report.

Ok, we all know the Goldman Sachs crowd are a bunch of commie, socialist, mothers who need to be run by members of the Tea Party in order to get things right. BUT, if the report IS accurate, and the cuts go in effect as planned, we're really screwed...

Texas Immigration Bill

Posted By Rod Kaufman

The Texas anti-illegal immigration bill is a tough one. After all, it's from Texas. Big companies that hire illegals will face big penalties if the bill is passed. Additionally, an 8% surcharge would be charged on any money wired to Latin America from Texas.
The exception? Texans will remain free to employ illegals as housemaids, gardeners and other domestic servants. In other words, they can employ a slave if they want too. Geez...

I Agree With Alito On This One

Posted By Rod Kaufman

I didn't think I'd actually agree with much of anything Sammy says, but he's right on this one:

Muslim Can Sue for Hijab Removal

Posted By Rod Kaufman

A Muslim woman who pleaded guilty to welfare crime sued when she was placed in a holding cell and deputies had her remove her hijab for security reasons. She reportedly stated she felt it was debasing when her hijab was removed. Er, ah, in my opinion it's debasing to be placed in a holding cell in the first place BUT THAT GOES WITH THE TERRITORY. A federal judge and a three judge appeals board agreed with the county and threw out her lawsuit but a CAIR attorney got it reinstated after appealing to the full appeals board. I think the county should appeal it to the supreme court. It's time to get Sammy Alito activated. Sure a hijab may be a security risk, you could probably hide a lot of contraband underneath or in a hijab that wouldn't show up in a metal detector.

Libya: Who We're Fighting For ?

Posted By Rod Kaufman

I wondered the same thing as I watched a Democratic congressman ask the same question on CNN last week: who are the rebels in Libya and what do they want?
Here's one clue:

Here's another:

And it seems people don't want us there:

Fareed on the Quran Burning

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Well, at least he got this one right:
"Many Muslim leaders...condemn the burning of the Quran." "That's appropriate." "But so is killing in reaction to that burning." "And this is where there is still far too much silence in the Muslim world." "Why are they silent about the murder of innocents in the name of religion?"
"This is the perfect moment for them to stand for a modern, moderate Islam than condemns the burning of the book but also the killing of humans."
http://globalpublicsquare.blogs.cnn.com/2011/04/03/fareeds-take-quran-firestorm/
Er, ah, anybody heard of any condemnation from the Muslim world of the killing of the innocents thus far?...
