Yosemite (again)

Posted By Fred Lusk

The last and shortest series deals with the Merced River. This shot was taken from a place called Swinging Bridge. However, the bridge doesn't swing and you're not allowed to swing from it…go figure. I took this looking toward, but below, the afternoon sun

Yosemite (again)

Thanks all for your comments. And for those who still need to visit YNP, it's open all year (well, parts of it anyway).

Busy Bees

This bee is cleaner than the first one. Obviously he hasn't been working as hard.

Yosemite (again, again)

Posted By Fred Lusk

I stayed through dusk and into the early evening. I took this shot of Half Dome and the nearly full Moon from the meadow immediately south of Lower Yosemite Fall

Here is #30 on the WSox swinging big, but he missed. This was taken with my 50-200 mm f/2.8-3.5 (100-400 mm equivalent FOV)

How many have seen Pluto?

Posted By Fred Lusk

I saw Pluto for the first time last summer using my Celestron CPC-800. I tracked it three nights in a row. With good alignment, my CPC-800 nailed it dead on each time. Since I was at 8200 feet (Courtright Reservoir in the Sierra Nevada east of Fresno), Pluto was easy to see as were several stars dimmer than Pluto.

I also had my 5" with me, but Pluto was too faint for that scope. I star hopped to the same field that my CPC-800 found, but didn't see the dimmer stars or Pluto.

Peter…

You're certainly more high-brow than me. I prefer Mountain Dew ("The Drink of the Gods") and Fig Newtons.

Star Trails and Meteors

Here is a 3 hour 30 minute star trail looking south. The bright streak is Jupiter. Also taken with the OM-4T and 24 mm lens.
