Bus Tour Lost?

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Mike Strieber said:

Wow, I bet Obama's driver is in a heap of trouble. Looks like he made a wrong turn and ended up in Arizona. Gotta admit though, Obama's new bus, Downgrade One, is pretty nice. Those Canadians can build a serious bus.
Naw, that's just another shakedown in Texas:

Bachmann: Such A Fibber

Reagan's Adviser Sums Up Perry

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Bruce Bartlett, former domestic policy adviser to Ronald Reagan and a previous treasury official, sums up Rick Perry:

I note Mr Bartlett also took the rather laborious step to author a complete book on how George W Bush destroyed America economically. His text entitled, "How George W Bush Bankrupted America and Betrayed the Reagan Legacy" might have been more appropriately entitled, "How George W Bush Bankrupted the World and Cut Brush At The Ranch".
I've got to buy this guy's book!

Oil/Gas Prices Falling: Blame Bachmann?

Posted By Rod Kaufman

When gasoline prices were up around $4.00+ during the Dubya years, conservative posters in this forum defended the profits being reaped by the oil companies as a good thing because they reasoned that people had their 401ks invested in oil stocks. (How they knew what stocks people had their 401ks invested in remains a bit of a mystery but for the sake of argument, let's assume it to be true). However, a funny thing happened when Obama became president and oil and gas prices spiked and oil company profits once again skyrocketed. Some of these same conservative posters either remained silent on how beneficial it is to have higher oil prices and therefore higher gasoline prices and subsequent higher profits for the oil companies and their investors. Instead, they whinned and complained about the high prices of oil and gas and blamed Obama for it!
But given our understanding of the market system, the conservative posters in the Bush years were evidently correct: higher oil prices= higher gas prices=higher oil company profits=higher profits for investors.
So now who's fault is it for faliing oil prices and falling gasoline prices?
Is it:
a. Obama? How could it be his fault when he caused them to go up? I guess we gotta eliminate him.
b. Bachmann? Well, I gotta admit, she scares me and she's threatened to take us back to the days of gasoline prices under $2.00/gallon.
c. Speculators? Naw, they're always driving gas prices in one direction: up!
d. Market forces? Hmm, now there's a thought:

I don't know, Bachmman stiill scares the BGs out of me just about everytime I see or hear her speak...

Gee, if only Ford could do this...

Posted By Rod Kaufman

David,
I'd expect Ford to say that unless this is a safety issue that warrants a recall, the cars and their defects will only be covered if it's within the 3 years/36000 mile basic bumper to bumper guarantee. So I'd expect the latter provision to exclude the lion's share of the liability for this issue...

More GOP Hypocrisy: Raise Your Taxes

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Now that Obama wants a tax increase to be stopped, the GOP is banding together to ok it. True to his character, Flip Romney won't take a stand one way or another but here comes the rest of the GOP to to see to it that the bottom line of having more of your money be taxed actually happens:

2013 President Poll

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Rick Perry. His running mate? Michele Bachmann. Those two ought to be married anyway.
I mean Perry looks like a TV game show host so he'll immediately be popular with the masses. Bachmann might clean up her act and get her eyes fixed(along with her headaches) and open a library or two so all the kiddies will show up and read all about Paul Revere warning the British about those soon to be Americans...

Huntsman Goes Head Hunting

Posted By Rod Kaufman

I see Huntsman's got Flip Romney's number: "...If we were to talk about his inconsistencies and changes on various issues, we'd be here all afternoon."
Hitting Perry on the theory of evolution and climate change, he noted, "The minute the Republican party becomes the anti-science party, we have a huge problem." Maybe there's still hope for the Republicans yet if this guy stays the course. But with most of their candidates acting like they're running for president of the Tea Party and not the United States, they'll have an uphill battle.
Oh, on Bachmann and her promise to knock the gas down to $2.00/gallon, "it just simply is not founded in reality." Then again, neither is Bachmann. Score another point for Huntsman as he tells it like it is...
