Hunter Biden to plead guilty to tax crimes and admit gun offence

Posted By Jim Moscheck

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-65965473

Hmmm, you cooperate with an investigation and you get to plead guilty to two misdemeanour tax crimes and a gun offence.

Okay, can we finally put to rest the Hunter's laptop conspiracies? You guys on the right will need to find something or someone else to complain about. Mostly a nothing burger.

"The two misdemeanour tax charges stem from a failure to pay more than $100,000 (£78,000) in taxes in both 2017 and 2018. A former justice department official told CBS, the BBC's US partner, that these amounts would lead to most clients being charged with misdemeanours, but "in the jail time range".

In a statement, Joe Biden said that neither he nor Jill Biden would comment further on Hunter Biden's case.
The gun charge stems from a 2018 possession of a firearm while a drug user.

In a 2021 book, the younger Mr Biden admitted to being a heavy user of crack cocaine at that time.

But he reportedly said "no" on a federal form asking if he was "an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug or any other controlled substance". Lying on these forms can lead to jail time."

Of course, the right will say this is an example of a two tiered justice system but compared to trump's crimes it's small potatoes.

Surely if trump wanted leniency he would also have cooperated and plead the alleged felonies down to misdemeanors.

Instead he goes on Fox news and implicated himself again by opening his big mouth full of the best words. His lawyers have to be going nuts every time he opens his pie hole.

Living in my head

Morning Jim, I remember once driving from the Grand Canyon to Scottsdale in 1978 and we watched an electrical storm the whole way down to the desert. We had Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon and Meddle in the cassette deck which matched perfectly with the incredible light show.

We usually get lots of thunderstorms in the spring and summer, but this year with the low pressure system just sitting over eastern Canada we've had nothing but blue skies and moderate temps the past month and little rain.

Yes, this place is quieter without Richard's "contributions" to the discussions. I do hope he is okay.

House censors Schiff

Posted By Jim Moscheck

While Boebert and Green were bitch slapping each other Adam Schiff was censored by the house in a vote down partisan lines. Called to the well of the HOR Schiff said:

"You honor me with your enmity. You flatter me with this falsehood. You, who are the authors of a big lie about the last election, must condemn the truth tellers and I stand proudly before you," Schiff said on the House floor.

"I led the first impeachment of Donald Trump, for one of the most egregious presidential abuses of power in our history, and I led a trial which resulted in the first bipartisan vote to remove a president in history," he said.

"I would do so again. I warned that if Trump was not held accountable, he would go on to try to cheat in even worse ways in the next election, and he did, inciting a violent attack on this very Capitol," Schiff added, referencing the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Hate to say it but this is exactly what the fascists did in Germany. Silence the folks you don't want the public to hear from.

It is a sad state in America these days.

Probably because of one stubborn juror or two who despite the mountains of damning evidence in the documents case will force a hung jury.
I have no illusions that trump will be convicted, but I surely don't want to see him as the GOP nominee either with a chance of regaining the presidency. What I would like is to have the old GOP, that one I complained about so much, back with real conservatives who want what's best for the country, not what's best for trump, their pocketbook, and the maga base.

I have a problem with both of their ages, too, but if it's between trump and biden I'll go with the older guy that has lots more experience governing.

I just can't imagine how cold and dark that would be, like being buried alive with four others is just chilling. The fact they only had one water bottle each and a box lunch, but 96 hours of breathable air is just unthinkable. Even if they had been able to surface they'd have been bobbing around in the rough north Atlantic with no seats while bolted into a tube with no way to escape.

It was far better checking out the way they did.

A Conservative Judge Sums It Up

Lordy, there are tapes!

Posted By Jim Moscheck

I know you guys love me posting about the former guy but it's in the news. Again.

https://currently.att.yahoo.com/news/donald-trump-responds-leaked-audio-025702780.html

"Posting to Truth Social after the release of the audio, Trump took aim at prosecutor Jack Smith and claimed, without explaining, that the audio is an exoneration of his alleged crimes.

“The Deranged Special Prosecutor, Jack Smith, working in conjunction with the DOJ & FBI, illegally leaked and ‘spun’ a tape and transcript of me which is actually an exoneration, rather than what they would have you believe,” Trump wrote.

The former president added: “This continuing Witch Hunt is another ELECTION INTERFERENCE Scam. They are cheaters and thugs!”

Glad to see all of the comments on this post as this is the GOP frontrunner by a mile. You righty tighty guys just can't quit him, can you?

Anyways, Trump give a 12 point rebuttal to the recording. I'm sure his lawyers are confident his statements will go over well legally in court. According to #12 he is a legitimate person after all.

Jump to 3:05 for his rebuttal or watch the whole thing if you want to hear his best words again on the recording that he didn't "see" , although seconds later he says you can hear the shuffling of papers. And he "makes it clear" it was all Gen. Millie and the military's idea for the Iran attack plans. Seems that is what the military does, makes contingency plans, usually at the behest of a president, and presents it to him.

What comes next? The I know you are, but what am I defense?
