Happy Holidays From Mohamed

It says he was a student at Oregon State. Do you think perhaps the US taxpayers were covering his education? 8O

It's about dang time!

David,
how true, I continue to be amazed at the substantive, meaningful legislation being addressed wink

It makes me all warm and fuzzy knowing issues so vital to the future of our country are routinely legislated...

Would you please get back to the business of undoing the past 2 years? We will forgive you for sloppy rhetoric, but we won't forgive you if you forget why you were sent to DC.

Russ,
how about the last 20?

GOP Budget Cuts Would Hit US Economy

Posted By Michael Koons

Well my 2 neighbors who live pretty lavishly are now in the tank. It appears their credit card debt and installment personal loans(according to the paper) are a bit overdue. Maybe a bit of cutting on the nice stuff before.....would have spared them a bit of pain now smile

But of course their spending other peoples money did in some way impact the chineese imported stuff that came in the country....

Deal Or Dud?

Is the new budget deal raising the debt ceiling good or bad? Both good and bad? Any opinions? Our government now owes more than our entire GDP (give or take a few cents for a few days). Anyone worried about that? The Bush tax cuts are still set to expire. No Problems? Some say Obama came out the political winner but the polls say otherwise. So who wins, who looses politically speaking?

David E

Dud,
We can't cut spending and can't raise revenue so in a nutshell

"We are raising 14 percent of GDP in taxes, the lowest since 1948. The Republican position that taxes aren't part of this solution, raising taxes is just nonsensical and can't be defended."

"The Democrats say Social Security isn't part of the problem. Well, this year Social Security will be fifty billion short, in terms of revenue coming in from payroll tax versus what's going out, and it will get worse every year, and it's the biggest single program"

From David Stockton, Ronald Reagans budget director, link to the article is here

$600.00

So.....did speculation lead to $22 per barrel in 2002? What is the "fair" price. Does supply and demand discount or include speculation?

(CA Dems) We have a GREAT idea!

Posted By Michael Koons

Russ,
I actually do not think it is a bad idea at all. At present, those who do not save simply have no value perspective of money and will scream the loudest for thier Sociol Security COLA's. I agree that the government invasiveness might be disagreeable, but this is in light of a weak SS system that those very same people will be draining. Kill SS and watch all the people the article is talking about start saving on their own. I guess I would equate this to the individual mandate for Obamacare which forces individuals who used to just waltz into our ER's(on my dime), that can afford it, to contribute at least something. If the proposal is in that light, I don't mind.....
