Appears to be fixed now...

I know of the "updating" of Astromart website.

This message is only to assist in the changes that are being made to improve the site.

The problem I started having today was a security pop-up with EVERY left click of the mouse at the website.

The message is... "Internet Explorer has blocked this website from displaying content with security certificate errors".

-"Some content on the webpage was being delivered using a faulty certificate. Security certificate problems might indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any information you send to the website or server. You can click the Information bar to display the content (not recommended). For more information on certificate errors, click the Information bar, then click What's the risk."

I'm running Win XP Pro with Internet Explorer 8.

Unable to find astromart.com

Posted By Greg Shaffer

I can get in on my laptop using a sprint aircard. I cant get in using my desktop with a cable modem.

I do find it strange that you have two different computers using the same ISP and one can get on and the other cant.

Neither Foxfire or IE on my computer can find www.astromart.com or any other URL's that should take me to a part of Astromart. I have no problem on my wifes computer, hence the ability to make this post. My computer is running on XP and I had it set to stay signed in. I've cleared the cache in Foxfire but it's still unable to find the site in either Foxfire or IE. Is this something that will clear on its own, or do I need to do something to my computer?

Thanks,
Brad

Ads Placed?

Posted By Greg Shaffer

Hi Peter!

Pretty sure that number represents every ad you ever placed even if you deleted it, removed and reposted etc....even if you posted it and changed your mind 2 min later and deleted it. Also includes WANT ads etc.....

Peter Glus said:

I was browsing, and went to "Top Users" and saw my name with ads placed at like 600! But I probably only placed half that. Does anyone know what the "ads placed" means?

Moonlite CR1+Hi Res.Step.Motor+Cercis Controller

Cant offer help directly but Mark Beale is selling that very setup in the focuser listings. You might PM him to see if he has been there and done that.

Hi Friends,

I don't know if somebody can help me with this maddening situation. One year ago I've got the above mentioned equipment from Moonlite. Since the end of last year I was thinking about a CCD and finally last week I took the plunge and I get the new QHY9. Unfortunately this works under ASCOM 5 so I had not choice and I upgraded to this new version but now my FocusMax and Maxim can not connect to the Focuser. anyone with problem? Are you working as usual? Could you explain me how to get them working? I would like to thanks in advance anyone who could help me.

Best regards

Help in choosing a 5mm eyepiece

Posted By Greg Shaffer

I cant offer a comparision since I am pretty sure I have never looked thru a TV radian of any flavor.

What I can say is the hyperions are quite special considering their price with the exception of the 24mm.....I know there are better 5mm (I have a couple but I paid over twice as much for them) out there but the hyperion works VERY good and when you throw the price in the mix.....its one of the best deals I know of.

I notice while observing planetary nebula that I need higher magnification than a 12 inch Lightbridge can provide with an 8mm ocular. As a result, I finally decided to complete an eyepiece set and get a 5mm wideview(at least 60 degrees)for it offers the maximum magnification that I can use with my telescope on most nights.
I narrowed the choice between a Baader Hyperion or a Televue Radian. But I am unable to decided between the two. I want to save money with the Hyperion, but the Radian offers superior optics. The only way to break this stalmate in deciding is to seek information comparing the on axis sharpness and contrast between the two. If it makes a significant difference between seeing something or not at all that is important to me.
I will consider new or preferably used. Anybody here on this forum have opinions on buying from eBay? The input would be helpful. :S

Vixen NA140SS vs NA140SSf

Posted By Greg Shaffer

Same question on CN the other day.....pretty sure the best place to get that answer is Vixen themselves.....You are correct regarding where they are made. Having seen nothing from Vixen specifically stating changes were made to the optical design or components I would guess the "improvements" were mechanical such as the dual speed.

Saied Mabrouk said:

Hi, Does any body know if there is an optical performance difference between the old Vixen model NA140SS and the current model NA140SSf? The SSf model used to come with a single speed focuser and it now comes with a 2 speed focuser at higher price. I believe that the SSf is built in China, sent to Japan for "QC inspection", stamped built in Japan before it is sent out.

What I want to know if there is an optical performance difference between the SS model and the SSf model with single speed or with 2 speed focuser versions..

Saving classified ads

Posted By Greg Shaffer

Very simple....create a new folder under your "favorite links" called "ads to watch" or something like that. When you see an ad you want to keep an eye on save the url as a favorite. You can then surf directly back to that ad page with a couple clicks.

I currently have 4 particular ads I saved that are older and have not sold just in case I hit a windfall and can afford to buy smile

Don McDonald said:

Is there any way to save a classified ad in a watchlist sort of like Ebay? The ads proceed quickly and drop off the end of the list. There are often ads I would like to save, but I can't see any way to do it.

SSL Certificate Expired

Posted By Greg Shaffer

I dont believe it is AMart's that is causing the issue....but rather the ad banners on the right side of the homepage. My system is telling me they were blocked due to the SSL certificate being expired and both are black with the red X like a missing picture.

Got a warning from Firefox this morning that the Astromart SSL Certificate is expired. Might want to get that fixed.
