Shopping for a refractor Mount

Posted By john raymond

For a given weight, length, and diameter of a refractor, how do you calculate the minimum payload equatorial Mount for visual use?

For refractors over 6” dia and over 8 feet long.

We can calculate eclipses thousands of years in the future, but I haven’t seen my question addressed anywhere.
Thanks
John

Best 10 collapsible dob?

Bob
The Dobstuff is a good option. Dennis made a scope for me , he is pleasant to deal with.

I also recommend New Moon Telescopes Hybrid. http://newmoontelescopes.com/product-category/hybrid/

Ryan uses actual hardwood wood for the builds. They look like fine furniture.

Add a good North American made mirror and you'll have a fine telescope.

EAre they the same as Skyshed POD?

Did you try contacting some of the  dealers?
http://www.skyshed.com/dealers.html

If you only recently contacted them, it’s possible they might be at a star party considering it’s new Moon weekend. ???

AP 600E in use

Posted By john raymond

A couple of weeks ago we had a little solar meetup. Unfortunately there were no sunspots.

The 600E works well and a lot more portable than my old 900 QMD.
