Ted Stevens indicted, longest-serving GOP senator

No matter the political persuasion, I always believe that we need to see a conviction BEFORE we start stoning an alleged perpetrator. Too often lives and careers are ruined by the court of public opinion. We have seen too often that prosecutors have a political agenda. When the suspect can some how be associated with politics or a political to do with a hot political topic, I am even more hesitant to jump on the band wagon until there is an actual conviction.

Kind of like your convictions about Obama smoking crack, doing cocaine, never having a job or any experiences, and not having an original though in his head(Owright).

Sheesh, I know you gotta stick up for your guys, but if this was a DEM you'd be all over them.

freaky looking robot!

Posted By Jim Moscheck

What's odd is the way the two sets of legs are each facing the opposite way, at least in the way we think they should look.

I wonder how many miles per gallon it gets.

Detroit mayor Kuame Kilpatrick in jail

Posted By Jim Moscheck

Breaking news:

MI attorney general Mike Cox tomorrow will charge KK with felonious assault and obstruction of justice for the alleged shoving match KK had with a sheriff's deputy trying to serve a summons at one of KK friends home a couple of weeks ago.

This is in addition to all the other trouble this guy is in. He needs to go now.

Outreach is fun!

Posted By Jim Moscheck

The only time I can get my wife out with the telescope is for outreach events. We look forward to the yearly "Astronomy on the Beach" held each September at a nearby metropark.

This is a great event for anyone living in the Metro Detroit area.

Libs apparently do not believe that we should reduce our energy dependence from other nations.

Now that's just BS. I'm glad you know what all us "libs" think. Keep up with the talking points there, JB.

How many houses do you have?

Posted By Jim Moscheck

Jim Babcock said:

It is irrelevant how many homes we own or any candidate.

Unless the public perception is that the candidate can't relate to the common man. Remember John Edwards $300 haircuts? How about JM imported $500 loafers?

I pay $12 bucks for a haircut and have on a pair of $58 loafers(It's Friday).

RC made a excellent point about GHB and the grocery scanners. I think it's very relevant in these economic times. Mitt won't help JM win Michigan, the people are hurting here. :S

BO and Friends!

Posted By Jim Moscheck

Jim: What's the difference between a BO "elitist liberal" and a JM "elitist semi-conservative/moderate"?

I'm trying to make up a punchline with no luck. :S

I think an elitist is someone who is out of touch with the situation on the ground. Elitist is being against, but then for supporting tax breaks for the top 1% and telling the rest of us that if we vote for BO our taxes will go up. An elitist is someone who has too many homes to keep track of and who wears $500 loafers. An elitist has his own private jet. Maybe he wasn't an elitist in 2000, but he sure is in 2008.

But we all know how BO is an elitist. Raised by a single mother and grandparents. Working hard to earn scholarships to go to Harvard and to be so elitist he finishes in the top of his class and edits the Harvard Law Review. Yeah he's an elitist alright.

Draw straws

Posted By Jim Moscheck

My older brother and business partner, rest his soul, and I used to argue politics all the time, myself being a child of the sixties and him being raised in the fifties . Needless to say we butted heads all the time. The one thing we agreed on and had fun with was a thought experiment in which a straw poll/election would work with a few qualifications.

Our premise was to elect a representational congress and senate with a lottery of all college grads and/or veterans of the military to fill the congressional seats. Pay them all one million dollars/year so they wouldn't cave into special interests. Terms of six years and out for the senate, four years and out for the house, and stagger the replacement lottery so some experience will be always be there. If someone rises to the top and does a very good job then they could seek higher office in the presidential election. If one wanted to be eligible for the general election lottery they'd have the choice to get the education or the required six or eight years of military experience.

I know it sounds kind of communistic but it would be a government by and for the people with all special interests thrown out the door.

I think we just got tired of going through every election with the bitterness and lies that come from both sides. :S Plus we had too much time on our hands to "discuss" politics. wink
