Never have and never will call Herb.  I assumed he intentionally let you back in - I see now that I was in error.  The computer took your $15 and autonomously let you back in.  You didn't clear it with Herb first.  I was right about your lack of integrity obviously.

I am sure that Herb had a good reason to toss you - was it that you threatened someone in a PM?  I was not on-line at the time.

And you're wrong again, as Herb did let me back in.

The part that I just put in boldface above is totally incorrect on your part.  Would you care to see the email he sent me from "Herb York"?

Care to put your money where your fat mouth is Skipper?  LOL   tongue
So why did Herb toss you?

So then, You ignored my challenge Skipper.  I told you to that Herb did in fact let me back in.

I'll ask again, Do you want to put your money where your smug, and typically incorrect fat mouth is or are you the pissed off, angry little boy that you've always been?

You made a bunch of accusations.  Just like your little buddy Gilligan, you can't back up your assertions?

Care to wager on your accuracy?  smile

You let me know.  wink
So why did Herb toss you?

Now then, you wrote this:

Now then, I'll my question again fat mouth.  Care to wager that Herb didn't send me an email directly, or are you too big a coward to put your money where your mouth is Skipper?

Care to wager that I did not grovel as you so smugly claimed fat mouth?  wink
I do not care to wager.  So why did Herb toss you?

Next time you want to impugn my character, saying I groveled to Herb, and questioning my integrity, you might want to get your facts straight Skipper.    wink

Now then, I can't really remember why Herb "tossed me".  I do remember telling others in PMs that I would most likely get thrown out on my ear, and I did.

I know that Rod went whining to Herb again because I told Rod where to go, and perhaps Herb got tired of listening to Rod's complaints and thought it was just easiest to remove me.

I had no problem with that.  It is Herb's site and I respect his wishes along with his actions.

Herb holds the cards, it is his website and he makes his decisions and I can live with that.

You know what I think of you though don't you?    smile
Rich, it is likely impossible to impugn your character.  You have no character to impugn.

Herb certainly can let you back in - until he tosses you again.  You've obviously not changed or learned any lessons.  As you mentioned, it is his site.  If he wants to have raging sociopaths posting here so be it.  Your lunacy is marginally entertaining sometimes, and it gets Herb's post count up.

For what it is worth, I doubt that Herb actually "let" you back in.  My guess is that the system took your $15 and then spit out a "Welcome to Astromart" email in Herb's name.  I could be very wrong about that of course, but that is how I'd set up the system if I was the owner.

Also, I don't believe the bolded part, not at all.  This site and others like it are your reason for existence.  It's not like you have a job.  I'm quite certain you remember precisely why you got tossed.

Hi Greg:

I see your quotes around the word "science."    I think we agree that her article was obviously much more of an opinion piece than any attempt at science. The Beacon more or less paints this as a research article published in a prestigious journal, as this characterization advances their narrative.

The article was labeled as a "perspective" though, so I think the audience was warned that this was her opinion, not science.  The nature of the article (opinion v. science) may be one reason for why we approach the article and view the content so differently.  Jim

p.s.  This is not technically true.  She footnotes other works from people researching racism in the geosciences.  We don't need to get into it, unless you want to, I am sure you will find fault with her sources if we dig into them.  But she does indeed have supporting justification cited in her article.

Hi James:

This article is several years old, but it does have good graphics if you scroll down.  It supports your point of course, and it is from the NYT, so I suppose it will be deemed BS "ab initio" by some.  Anyway, here it is:

Hi Guys:

I had a nice weekend, hope you did too.  I have not read the whole weekend portion of the thread,  but in my mind, I can cut to the chase of what I think is the key underlying issue, with two questions.  First the caveats:  (A) I am not calling anyone here a bigot.  (B)  I think genuine bigots are relatively rare, becoming increasingly rare, and I do not like the modern and politically motivated re-definition of the term "racist" at all.  That said:

(1)  In 1940, did more genuine anti-black bigots living in the South vote democrat or republican?

(2)  In 2020, did more genuine anti-black bigots living in the South vote democrat or republican?

No one believes that everyone who voted Democratic before 1960 was a racist, and everyone who voted Republican after 1960 was a racist. For example, today, almost no one who votes Republican is a bigot or racist unless you are a David Duke fan-boy. However, party realignment in the 1960s did happen, and Southern Democratic opposition to civil rights mainly drove it.

Another significant political realignment is when black voters left the GOP after the failure of reconstruction. They were faithful to the GOP because of Lincoln's party status. They left the GOP primarily due to increasing Republican hostility towards civil rights. Those who participated in the Great Northern migration profoundly changed their cultural awareness and influences dramatically, contributing to this.
Good post - The "Southern Strategy" (I think it was Nixon's?) drove the realignment too.  (Of course the Southern Strategy targeted Southern Democrats, so maybe we are saying the same thing from cause vs. effect points of view.)   I am pretty sure the GOP has apologized for the "Southern Strategy" since then.  This strategy paid dividends and maybe still does, but it now sure seems short-sighted and must be at least partially responsible for the relative lack of Republican blacks.

I suppose we are due for a re-realignment though - assuming that the Democrats shift too far left and alienate the natural conservatives of color, and assuming the Republicans nominate a palatable candidate and so on.  I think this is happening now, but I might be overly optimistic (from an R point of view).
