You lucky dog! I have the opposite situation, and will be paying through the nose this year at tax time.

I can't comment on the Starshoot from personal experience, but I have seen some nice images taken with it. I know it would make me sick to modify my DSLR. I would much rather get a dedicated astro camera and keep the DSLR whole, but that is just my preference. As to the guiding question... your CGE should be quite accurate, but nearly all mounts require guiding for any long exposure work. It is possible with many decent mounts to get a couple of minutes without guiding, but that is about it (in my experience). I think you would be happy with a dedicated astro camera and a small autoguider with a guide scope or off-axis guider. That is my 2-cents worth.

East to West drift while guiding?

Floyd, Are you dithering with the guider between frames? In theory, that should introduce random errors (at least over the long term) but it could add up to some drift in the short term. Its just a thought. Otherwise, if the guider is working correctly and sending corrections, the only solution is flexure. You could try a very long exposure to see if flexure shows in the image. It is often most pronounced when crossing over the zenith with a GEM. That is my 2-cents worth.
