Since you doubt it and he was on a ventilator going downhill and then got prescribed those 3 drugs, what do you think attributed to his recovery after one day on HCQ, Dr Oz?  smile
Dude, I am trying to be nice.  No need for you to respond dickishly.

Z-Pack is an antibiotic and could have helped if your bro had bacterial pneumonia, secondary to Covid.  Ivermectin is a veterinary de-wormer.  The FDA advises against its use in humans.  That's all I know.  Like I said, I am glad he recovered.

You never have.

For what it is worth, any rational being reading my posts in this thread will conclude that I was trying to reach out and stem the escalating hostility between us that peaked and apparently really got to you yesterday.

As I see it, I have two choices.  (A) accept that venom and animosity will underlie all interactions between us, or (B) try to avoid interacting with you altogether.  Right now, it seems to me that (B) is the wiser choice.  We'll see.

I suppose you posted this thread to elicit hostile responses from me, Rod of course, and maybe James.  Mission accomplished.  For my part, the venom game is tiring, you seem to thrive on it.  All I'll say in closure is I am glad your brother got better.

You're such a ridiculous joke its not even funny.

The only person you're fooling is yourself.

Here are a few "reaching out posts" by you.   wink

1. Lovely vacations with a lovely wife are some really splendid benefits granted to those of us with (a) jobs, and (b) spouses.  It's a shame you have neither.

2. Bet you hide under your desk, that would be a good place to look for your brain cell... I think it fell out again...Moron.

3. You don't make the rules dummy.

4. You are an intellectual lightweight and coward

5. and get over it.  Moron.  Fool.

6. The sheer arrogance of you
deciding who is a Republican and who is not is mind boggling

7. You are such a tool.

8. No, you are an internet crank hiding under the desk in your mom's basement

9. You should be working, but no one will hire you.  Loser.

And this one by you takes the cake!

After those 9 insults towards me by you, this is what you came up with afterward:

10.  Frankly, I'm not sure how the real Rich keeps the venom flowing all the time.

Is that just the epitome of the pot calling the kettle black?

Gee, I can't imagine why I didn't just gladly accept your hand of friendship!   LOL  tongue

If that is "reaching out", I'd hate to see what you do for an encore.

Is it just full out, pull out your flamethrower and set me on fire??   ROFL!
A few days ago, I did write a couple posts in a fake "Rich" voice, mimicking your style.  I labeled them as such, so that everyone could laugh along.  You have quoted several of them above.  Yesterday, on the other hand, I really got nasty and direct.

Sorry about that.  Jim

Top Scientist, a Molecular Biologist at Rutgers University says it is CLEAR that Anthony Fauci LIED about Gain of Function Research

Even during the cold war, my father worked and studied with peers from Russia, for example. Heck, we lived in Poland in 1972 when it was still considered behind the iron curtain. What can I say? Conspiracy theorists gonna conspiracy theory.
Hi James, Rod:

Understood.  Still, if the original Covid 19 virus escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology it is an enormously big deal.  The world wide death toll is 4,624,078 and counting.  And that does not include the uncounted dead in India, China and elsewhere.  You get my point I am sure.

Fauci has approached this topic and in particular any possible US support for Chinese research into bat-born corona viruses in a very political manner.  Whether the research was useful and typical, or whether it was beyond what is considered unreasonably dangerous are good questions to ask.  No reason to get hung up on whether the research meets the current or past definition of "gain of function."  Bottom line, this issue is not a couple of scientists "talking past each other."  This looks/sounds a lot more like a political dissembling.  I hope we get to the bottom of it eventually.

What has been politicized here by Rand Paul and others is a general misconception that ANY nuanced portion of a grant, such as the work cited in some those 900 pages that a conservative media site had the Rutger's scientist review, and one in whom had already made up his mind in his past statements that gain of function had already occurred, is now interpreted by them as evidence of a lie being perpetrated by Fauci and others in some sort of "gotcha" moment. It's far from it.
There's no smoking gun here either for or against the lab leak theory or for perjury on the part of Fauci or other scientists that contend there is no gain of function. Much of the consternation regarding the lab leak theory could be resolved by a cooperative Chinese government but that's not going to happen. That said, I think China should still be required to pay reparations for knowingly allowing its national to travel and spread the infection to other countries.
Hi Rod:

I understand that I'm conflating the lab leak theory and the possibility of US support for gain of function research.  They are linked however.  If the virus did leak, and it was enhanced at the lab to be more infectious to humans, it is a bigger deal from a culpability standpoint.  Whether we share in the culpability (or not) is a legitimate issue to investigate.  Clearly we need proof of a lab leak before the gain of function research and who paid for it is all that important to the big picture.

Some in the press and some here are fixated on whether or not Fauci lied about the US possibly investing in Wuhan gain of function research.  Fixated to the point where I think they miss the big picture.  I agree with you that this is "gottcha" politics.

Possibly more importantly, I'm not convinced that Fauci wants to get to the bottom of it at all.  He behaves like a politician.  I hear lots of CYA in his rhetoric.  Also, he may now be open to the lab leak theory, but he sure was not open to that theory at the beginning.  Why not?

Was your brother vaccinated before he got Covid and almost died earlier this summer?

Rich:

Seriously, you think that Trump supporters who choose not to get vaccinated are making that choice based on something Kamala Harris or Biden said?  Seriously?  That makes no sense at all.  Find me one Trump supporter who bases his or her important medical decisions on something Biden or Harris said.

In my opinion, Trump should have handled the pandemic differently, and he would be president now.

As an aside; the story of the amazingly fast development of the mRNA vaccines started decades ago, and is pretty interesting.  https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-02483-w  There is no "good time" for a pandemic, but this one came along just as modern medical technology was poised to beat it.

I do think it is a shame that so many people of all political persuasions have failed to fully embrace the vaccines.  Some of this is inevitable.  A significant number of people are afraid of technology, fundamentally anti-vax, convinced of their own invulnerability, and so on.

But, I think that the modern phenomenon of filtering information through a titanium-clad social media bubble is a huge culprit, as that explains the vaccine hesitancy of certain otherwise divergent groups, like white R males and black D males.  Of course, Politicians of both stripes said really stupid things at various times during the pandemic and that did not help, but I think our society's  self-imposed information bubbles are the real problem.
