Govt. Powers Reduced in Utah - Republicans thrilled

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Dave,
The way it works in Utah is:
1. The biggest government sin: declare a pristine area a national monument.
2. Got nuclear waste? It's the government's responsibility to keep it clean and away from Utah.
3. Turning 65? Where's my government check?(Unless you're "disabled" and you want it faster).
4. Gun control? Our sheriff's will arrest the fed so why bother?
5. Cohabitation? Their replacement word for "harem".
6. Sister-wives? All in the family...
7. Hillbilly sheriffs shaking down every foreigner? Not any more. (Now it's every other foreigner).
8. Seen Salt Lake city lately? Better bring your infra red thermal imaging goggles and an O2 mask.
9. Democracy? Didn't you mean demon-heresy?
10. Theocracy? Iran has theirs, we have ours...

Cage Match

In this scene from my favorite movie, "Hard Times", the spectators in the crowd are not extras. They were unemployed individuals provided by the Louisiana/New Orleans unemployment development office:

Looks like they did a better job than the extras might have done.
Last night watching kick boxing championships from Tokyo, the referee stopped one of the bouts briefly in order tell a Japanese fighter to fight more aggressively so that the fans would get their money's worth. The smaller Japanese fighter was outgunned by his larger American opponent but the referee evidently got his attention because he prevailed in the fight.
Seems to me we ought to have a bit more of that kind of fighting spirit in politics these days on the part of the Democrats. They're such wusses...

Is anyone concerned about the NSA stuff

Posted By Rod Kaufman

I don't know what the NSA is or isn't doing but what they did do is to prevent an Islamist from bombing the New York Stock Exchange, among others.
We live in different times, because we're being drawn back into the medieval era by Islamist supremacists.
You take your pick...

Colorado's Pot Law

Posted By Rod Kaufman

I can understand the medicinal use of pot in selected and limited cases but the recreational use of it, like other drugs, is crossing the line IMO.
I wouldn't want a pot-high driver next to me on the highway and Colorado's law permits its use in vehicles. I think that's a major mistake. The line up of people waiting to get high on this stuff is ludicrous. I hope this isn't a precedent for other states...

Poverty level under Obama breaks 50-year record

I'm not sure any administration could improve upon it if this is an underlying root cause:
