Bush's Accomplishments (For Jim Babcock)

Posted By Darrell Fichtl

Hey Jake:
8)
Did you notice; not one response from the individual that it was aimed at!!!

You must be loosing your touch. You can't incite a Right winger any longer!

What's this world coming too?

Re: Stem cell

Ron:

Boy, that's one I can argue both sides.

About six months ago we had a garage sale and I had my SUV parked outside. Apparently when one of the fellows came up he noticed my magnetic signs on the SUV "Computer Professional Rescue"

He lit into a long tirade about Linux and how great it was and that all software should be free. I asked him if he thought that people should work for free because that's what he was professing. A developer works many long hours to develop a software program and this guy thinks it should be free!

Much the same logic, although not exact, follows with stem cell research. I agree with you, "Follow the Money." If there's no money to be made, nothing will be done about it. If there is money to be made it's going to cost you, me and Uncle Sam a lot of money.

The only question that needs to be answered, "Is it worth it?" If you have Parkinson's or Alzheimer's disease you'd probably say YES.

If you're a politician looking for votes you'd flip-flop as the wind blows.

What's going to be the deciding factor is what percentage of the population will be benefited compared to how much economic suffering it will cause. Sounds pretty callous but that's probably the way it'll come down.

Where are you at on this one.

Daryl:

I'm with you on this one. It makes for nonsense noveling and foolish one hour specials.

With one exception; I do believe that there are natural phenomenon that we do not comprehend is responsible for some of the simple circles. As for the complex creations we have people laughing all the way to the pub.

An Athiest's World View

Posted By Darrell Fichtl

Chris:

Many confuse religion with morality. Both change with the times and not necessarily in unison with each other. Although many would say that the later is dependent on the former I totally disagree. I think morality, in what ever version it may flower itself, would exist without religion.

But there is something to be said about group hysteria. I feel some pretty weird things can occur in a group concentrated on a single goal. In this frame of mind reality moves into a state of flux that can not be rationally explained. Such a state of affairs are even explained in the Bible. "When two or more are gathered in his name." That also holds true for mass meetings that are totally non religious. E.G. Woodstock, Hitler's mass meetings, UFO sightings and many other examples. Some of these outcomes are very difficult to explain without resorting to the derogatory term, "Mass Hysteria."

About 20 years ago my wife and I took a seminar on Silva Mind Control. I saw some pretty weird things occur in that week long seminar. Things that could not be explained in a rationale manner.

The only difference between the two "worlds" would possibly be less war over, "My God is better than your God" but then the world would have a lot more people in it or maybe not. With the edict of having children till your totally broke out the window, maybe there would be less.

These ramblings are totally without foundation since the theory, at least in our lifetimes, will never be tested. One more thing, extrapolating the consequences to Russia is totally groundless. They didn't have religion, but they also had one crappy form of government. That negates any comparison.

Maurice:

Maybe you never heard of Harry Thurman's famous phrase.

"If you lined all the economist up they'd all point in different directions!"

I don't think anything has changed in 54 years!

This will test your faith

The unfortunate realization is that we feel that life must be life like us.

We are here because the planet had and has the conditions that allowed us evolved and continue to live. Change one very small item and we wouldn't exist.

How small a change would it take. Well, how about a very small one like ice doesn't float!

Think it through, what would happen to the lakes and oceans and therefore you.

You don't suppose, just maybe, that this was one of the reasons for the Patriot Act?

Bush Zones go National

Posted By Darrell Fichtl

Hi Joe:
:S
I'm no Bush fan nor am I a Kerry fan but listening to anything Hightower has to say is like saying Al Franken is the Bible.

Franken, Limbaugh and Hightower are so far to the left and right that Babe Ruth couldn't hit a ball to them!

Heck, I'd rather start believing the Bible then believe any of those guys!

Darrell

Starting to sound like a police state to me!

Posted By Darrell Fichtl

Well, Jim at least we can disagree on this point.

As Ben Franklin once said, ""They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

You of all people, it seems to me, would be the last to oppose decent. :S

From what I can glean from the article is, that if you're too vociferous, or make too much of a spectacle in you're opposition you're on the FBI list and watch.

Sounds like, as Yogi Berra once said, "Daja vu all over again." or was Nixon before your time?
