Used to do a lot of trout fishing in N GA......19 inch brown is my record....not huge but definitely respectable.
I probably should not have said "aversion."  Vaccines are a low priority to you, and my flu shot record is not perfect either.  My Dr. is insistent about flu shots though, and I value his opinion.   A 19 inch brown is huge in my book... I catch a lot more in the 12-15" range.

How about the Little Bear in Evergreen? Remember having an awesome burger at the BB and saw some great music at the LB. Someone told me there is a really good pizza place in idaho Springs, too, but can't remember the name. I did find it odd that they said it was good pizza. In Colorado. That didn't exist when I lived in Denver, although Famous Pizza on Broadway was pretty okay.
Hi Jim:

The Buffalo Bar and Little Bear are both still around.  Those are a couple of iconic places!  The pizza in Idaho Springs is "Beau Jo's."  It's on the main street and it's pretty good pizza, if you like real thick chewy crusts, a lot more like Chicago style than NY style!   https://www.beaujos.com/locations/idaho-springs/  They serve honey at the table to eat with the thick end crusts - my kids loved that when they were little!

You wouldn't stand a chance getting a table anywhere in Idaho Springs next weekend -  the aspen are peaking.  But in a few weeks, or during the weekday you should be OK.

Enjoy your visit!  Jim

It was a lot of fun. It's interesting how they plant trout in remote lakes: they fly over the lake in a plane with a tank full of water and then dump them out in midair. Some trout die in the process but most make it alive into the lake.

Interesting that the trout they are stocking from your local hatchery are sterile.  That is probably designed to give any native cutthroats a chance.  There is a hatchery near me too, and it is amazing watching the feeding frenzy when you throw a handful of trout-chow into the rearing ponds.  The wild born trout in the Arkansas (my home river) are much more picky!

Thus, we have all unwittingly become "leftist tools" whether we like it or not. The practice obviously goes hand in hand with government mandates to vaccinate against covid as we all become magnetized and connected to 5G in the process for purposes of tracking by the gubermint. We need to be extending the concept of "my body, my choice" to trout. Additionally, the protections afforded by "my body, my choice" does not extend to the reproductive rights of women, only to the reproductive rights of the covid virus...

Hi Steven,  I read that too.

Apparently the sterile trout waste less time fooling around and more time eating.  Sometimes I fish from an ultra-light float tube in the mountain lakes around here.  That is pretty easy, but really fun.  The trout come up and hit surface flies aggressively.  Mostly greenback cutthroat trout that are natives.  In the river, there are browns and rainbows that have been reproducing in the wild for years.  Those are much harder to fool!  Jim

I see.

Do you remember how Mike Rosen, whom we both admire a lot, used to treat callers who answered a question with a question?  wink

No worries though, I didn't expect a straight answer and was not disappointed.  Of course, I don't think you are crass enough in real life to actively apply an ideological litmus test to make sure your friends and acquaintances are all sufficiently conservative.  On the contrary, my guess is that you spout off some sort of political diatribe way too early, and scare off potential friends who might be liberal, moderate, or McCain/Romney type Republicans.  Don't you reckon that this is how iron clad social bubbles are made and reinforced?

You are the one who said, "I have to say I don't hang out with libs, (thankfully!  My friends are much smarter and much more logical than you lefties) so you and I never have to worry about running into each other at a party."  Have you considered that maybe your life is less rich, Rich, because of the walls you've erected?

"Amy Coney Barrett sullies the Supreme Court"

A good read and also applicable to Clarence Thomas, who apparently also took to giving a public speech after the poll numbers of the public's view of the supreme court took a major nosedive. It should be recalled that Clarence had previously been "interviewed" by his own wife during a conservative talk radio show...
The opinion writer loses all credibility in the first paragraph when he writes this:

"This remarkable line came just days after Barrett joined a 5-4 majority upholding a Texas law seeking to overturn Roe v. Wade by empowering citizens to sue anyone who assists in an abortion after six weeks of pregnancy, even if it was the result of rape or incest."

Talk about your partisan hyperbole!  The Supremes did not uphold the Texas law.  They chose not to enjoin it's implementation before any formal hearings or briefings on the constitutionality of the law had occurred and before the lower or state courts had even ruled.  In other words, the Court did not decide the constitutionality of the Texas law one way or the other.  Sure, the unsigned decision not to enjoin was disappointing to abortion rights activists, but anyone who thinks it conclusively signals that Roe v. Wade is doomed has not been following the Court for very long.

The opinion writer's credibility is further eroded because liberal heroes RBG and Stevens were prolific speakers.  Too bad this list cuts off at 2019, but you'll get the picture.

This is a left-leaning professor whining because his side does not have the Supreme Court locked down.  It is partisan hit-pieces like this that sully (politicize) the reputation of the Court, not any speech by ACB.
