Thinking about the past........

Posted By Maurice Clark

Hi Jim,

I hear you. It would be nice to have reasonable discussions, but one person seems intent on making that impossible. At least there are some here who do make for a good discussion.

As far as staying on the site, I am not sure what I will do. I like to check here each day, but I retired 2 weeks ago and plan to return to Oz towards the end of the year. I hope to remain. I have been with Astromart since the early 90's. Yikes! more than 30 years!!! Now i really feel ancient! :'(

Clear skies.

I can happily state that I have not yet received that "honour"!

Are you as confident as you used to be of a Trump loss?   I am not.  sad  Jim
Hi Jim,

Like you, I am not so confident of a Trump loss. What gets me though is why people who decide to stay home and not vote think they will be better off under a Trump presidency! He is either indifferent or against those things they care about.

Thinking about the past........

Hi Everyone,

Thank you all for your well wishes. So far I am thoroughly enjoying retirement. Like Jim, I am finding so much free time to do the things I really enjoy! At the moment I am going back over all me astro images and re-processing them in Pixinsight. Does a much better job than Photoshop.

James, if you are finding your job has become tedious and you can afford it, I would say take the early retirement. I hear you about the cost of medical coverage in the US. That is the main reason (apart from missing the wonderful southern skies!) that I will not be staying in the US. In Australia, medical treatment is virtually free for pensioners. Just a small co-pay for some pharmaceuticals that is capped, and so free once the cap is reached.

The plan at this stage is once my wife can join me (she has her interview for her green card next Tuesday. We have been waiting for this for more than 4 years!) we will put the house on the market and spend about a month touring all around the US, taking in as many national parks as possible. You have so many beautiful places, particularly out west and your interstate highway system makes it so easy to drive around.

Hope to be back in Oz by the end of October. Then my biggest priority will be to get the observatory built! That 20" has been sitting in a crate for too long! Once I get it done, if any of you are interested is seeing the southern skies, you would be welcome to visit. Well, apart from one person that is.

Cheers,

Maurice

Hi Jim,

I will be on the west coast. Perth is the nearest city. Speaking of discounts, I see Qantas is having a sale at the moment. Good discounts on fares.

Cheers,

Maurice

Just mind boggling.  shocked
As usual, the one who considers himself to be the most brilliant person ever, fails to answer the question.

Wow, 25,000 people showed up at the Biden Rally in the Bronx..... ERR, sorry I meant to say 25,000 people showed up at the TRUMP rally in the Bronx.

David,

Why are you trying to confuse richie with evidence?  Besides, unless the source can be verified as further right than Franco or Attila the Hun, it is obviously fake. Pope richie says so.

Hi Jim,

Very sorry to hear of your loss. Family is so important. My condolences and sympathies to you. While mere words cannot help much, I pray that friends and family will help you get through.

Take care.

Common Ground

Hi Chris,

Even though I have been a PR in the US for over 20 years, I still am not allowed to vote. I a, fine with that. Personally, I feel that if someone is not a citizen, they should not be permitted to vote. That privilege should be for citizens only.

Cheers,

Maurice
