Re: Woodland Hills Camera and Telescopes

I have bought a number of items from them as I won't patronize the big name astronomy shop in Tucson Az anymore. Very professional!! For instance, I ordered an eyepiece from them. They CALLED me on the phone to tell me the eyepiece was backordered and gave me several options if I wanted the eyepiece sooner than later. No other company has EVER done that before for me. I had an issue where they overcharged me for an item. I pointed it out in email, and within 24 hours they had it fixed with an apology. You really find out how good a company is when you are faced with problems and how they go about fixing them. Needless to say, I go to them for most of my purchases now. I put them in a similar catagory as Anacortes....professional, knowledgable and caring for the customer first.

Re: Saturn on January 3, 2005

Look at the sharpness of the thin bands on the planet!! AWESOME!!

I finally had some clear weather last night, got Saturn in the eyepiece about 7:30 and decided to image at 9pm....sure enough, the sky was clear, the images were quite steady and my C925 corrector plate was dewed over!! LOL!! I still managed to get some images I hope to process today. I even saw Comet Machholz for the first time!! Not too bad from a city-lit back yard.

Very nice image!!

Advice on image (Saturn)

Posted By Paul Maxson

This is an image of Saturn shot last night (through dew on corrector plate). Seeing was decent but the dewing made the image less than it could have been. Anyway, my concern is the blurriness of the rings from 12-6 on the image. This is exactly as orientated in the scope and I think it would be about east-west. I'm wondring if this might be the scope, camera, seeing or something else. I would see this from time to time in the C8 as well. Just wondering.... It shows up when processed in both Reg V2 and V3.

Anyone remember this page?

It's been a while since I posted it, but thought what the heck...especially with all the cloudy weather around the world.

Sunspots on January 9, 2005

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all!!

The sun popped out for about 1/2 hour Sunday so I took a chance to image the sunspot groups 718 and 719. Seeing was bad, but the final image is nearly usable. I am reading that we will be having rain through Wednesday evening, but the weekend should be clear....HA!!

AR718-720 from Yesterday (1/13/05)

Posted By Paul Maxson

Hi all,

I am posting this on the fly as I am really running late today. I'll post better images and better labeled later tomorrow. I thought you might like to see the huge sunspot group as I was able to get it yesterday (January 13, 2005 1720UT). This is a mosiac to get all the visible groups (718-720) at prime focus on my Orion ED100 and the toucam camera. Gotta run!! :-D

BTW, we have high clouds today and I did manage a couple of images to process later.
