I would disagree with your assertion that "many" fact checks are editorial manifestations. In the case of the Washington Post, we are at least considering a newspaper with an editorial board and staff. Other fact checks have no such origin, although they may sometimes cite articles in newspapers but not editorials. I'm not sure how it works with the Washington Post, a newspaper that arguably carries a conservative bend, but other fact checkers allow for reader response and update their conclusions if additional facts arise. I'm not arguing the specific case your're currently citing, one way or the other, but I'm arguing your contention that "many" fact checks are biased relative to an editorial bend.
