I just picked up a Unitron 60mm x 700mm fl guidescope refractor. It's a pretty little thing with a pair of mounting rings and a 9mm 0.965 cross hair eyepiece.

I had a chance to take a quick look at M42, Saturn and Jupiter tonight and was very pleasantly surprised. I only have the one eyepiece so everything was at 78x. The stars were really pinpoints. There was just a little color on Jupiter that was hardly noticeable, but everything else was perfect. Everything was small compared to my other scopes, but I could see the Cassini division on Saturn and bits of detail on Jupiter's stripes. I had no idea how well this tiny scope would perform. I am hopelessly hooked on refractors.

On NBC last night I heard that there is only one other country in the whole world where the majority of the population (not just the government) supports war with Iraq at this time. In most, around 80 percent are against it.

Do they know something we don't?

By the way, Israel is the other country.

Friday night I was watching one of the major networks covering the war. One segment had a dialog with Richard Perle, head of the Defense Policy Board and a senior advisor to Bush. The commentator said something to the effect that it was Perle's war and Perle didn't deny it.

I did some research and found out that Perle was the author of a report called "Clean Break." Among other things this report states that an important strategic objective is to remove Saddam Hussein from power.

The problem is that this report is a plan for "rebuilding Zionism" written for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Removing SH was an important strategic objective for ISRAEL, not the United States. It also recommends ending the "land for peace" negotiations which seemed to be working until Sharon provoked the latest round or violence by visiting the third holiest temple in the Moslem religion with 1000 armed soldiers.

With these Zionists directing our defense policy, it is no wonder that so many Arabs hate the U.S. even more than they despise Saddam Hussein. It is also easier to understand why France and so many other countries hesitate to join this war.

It makes no sense to me to unilaterally take a course of action in Iraq than alienates a billion moderate Moslems. Many of these Moslems live in countries more advanced that Israel and do have access to technology for weapons of mass destruction. The only beneficiary of Moslem hatrid for the U.S. is Israel.

Are we being manipulated?

His analysis is probably right. His stupidity in how and when he expressed his opinions is proven fact for everyone to see. He deserves to be fired for exercising ignorance, not for exercising free speech.

This is coming from someone who thinks this war is the biggest mistake the U.S. has ever made. Now that the war has started, I support the troops. Besides, the only thing worse than starting this war would be to stop the war before the job is done.

Once the fighting has stopped or at least brought under control, this nation must make the most critical decisions since the end of WWII. I don't think this administration is up to the task.

Roughly 1 in 40 Americans is Jewish, but it appears that they control an huge percentage of the media. I wonder if the press is free to report on what is best for America and ALL of it's citizens or is there another priority?

Has anyone tried suspending the secondary using paino wire? I have some thoughts on a design, but I would like any information I can get from those who have tried before.

I just received an 8" f2 mirror that was for a Schmidt Camera. I would like to install a small (tubular) CCD camera and a secondary to make a camera. I believe that the primary mirror is spherical. What curve would I need on the secondary?

A very good thing. If the results of this war keeps getting better, I'll need some good recipe's for Crow because I'll probably be eating some.

By the way, for those following my posts, I do believe in God, but I don't know anything about him/her except that God keeps me in line and God had a sick sense of humor. Last week, while I was posting a link to a racist anti-Semite web page, my nephew was getting engaged to a really sweet Jewish girl, and today I found that the new programmer I just hired is another Republican. I'm sure that my Bush bashing, Clinton loving friends think I'm a traitor. Go figure.
