I queried a dealer about whether all of the new Celestron 9.25s were Fastar compatible. Here is the reply:

"Some are compatible some are not. We cannot guarantee which one you would receive when ordering."

Does this make sense to anyone?

Hi,

I have a used C9.25 and when I bought it the baffle ring was loose. Besides wanting to shame the previous owner for non-disclosure ,I found that when I turn the baffle ring the baffle turns with it inside the ota [diagonal keeps rotating with it].

I don't see any locking screw. How is the baffle tube/ ring seated from the manufacturer?

Can I just glue it and if so what kind of glue? Or do I have to tear it all down/ send it in to get fixed? [Although it wouldn't be worth the S/H and repair costs.]

Could use duct tape, but... Any thoughts appreciated.

We could start by turning off all those all night time lights that do nothing but generate revenue for the local power companies. I really don't get it. Turn off all the lights, save a bundle, and allow pinheads like me that enjoy stargazing to see something. Am I missing something here?

Can't help you. I was called re: their mount about 6 months ago, and I just declined passing it to the next in line as my situation is also pinched.

But thanks...now I know I only have about 6 more years to wait for my A-P 130 Gran Turismo!

I guess I want better views. There is nothing wrong per se with the mirror, but I suspect the Optical Certification would fall short: a standard Orion mirror is no where near the specs of a good mirror. I believe I read in one of Todd Gross's reviews that some of his best views were on a 10 inch dob with a Zambuto mirror, and I know his favorite mid size was a 14.5 inch Starmaster EL (Zambuto)... I have a 4 inch TV refractor, and while I love the crisp views, aperture rules. My $$ is limited so a large refractor is not in the mix. Plus I really don't want to deal with a computerized mount. I figure if I can put an expensive ($1200?) high quality mirror in my current dob it might be better than cashing out big bucks for the likes of a Starmaster, etc...

Would it be worthwhile to send my mirror in and get it checked out, and ask for recommendations to improve the specs (new coating, etc?)?
