Any recommendations for a book on ccd imaging

Posted By Ken Tydeck

Welcome aboard Sonya,
I also have an MX7C. Love it. I agree with Lance that while these recommended books are excellent, they do not cover the single shot cameras. Don't get me wrong. I do have these books and use them as a reference all the time. But to get down into the nitty gritty operation of the MX7 you are going to need to use the web. Yahoo's Astroart group is a good source of information. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AstroArt/. You can find David Miles manual in the files section. Print it out and keep it a your side. I also highly recommend Astroart 3 software. Much better than the frustrating camera supplied software. Other good sources of info are Chris Icough's and Alan Chens websites. http://www.freewebs.com/spanishchris and http://www.heavenlyview.com
Also there are some awesome gurus on this forum. Don't be afraid to ask questions and also post your images here. This is a great meeting place with lots of nice people and knowledge. I hope this gets you started in the right direction. And helps you to enjoy your hobby. Take Care...Ken Tydeck

Very nice Tom!! I may be spending some coin on one of these new digital SLR's. The big CCD camera companies must have some worries. Thanks for sharing! Ken Tydeck

Very nice images!! As the owner of an mx7c, I can relate to the color processing frustrations with a one shot color camera. Did you use Mike's color synthesis program for Astroart? Ken Tydeck

Very nice John!!! Was leaning towards Canon but now after seeing yours and Ivans images, Nikon D70 may be the way to go. I know Canon has some issues with certain color sensitivities. Have you seen any issues with the Nikon? Thanks! Ken Tydeck

Thanks all for the nice comments! I agree edge-on galaxies are awesome.
I have not taken the time to identify the galaxy on the top right edge. Curious about the distance of that one. This image was taken from my light polluted backyard. Thanks again! Ken Tydeck
