Very impressive and encouraging, Chris. I just ordered the Canon 10D with a Canon 400mm f/5.6L lens, and I can't wait to try it out on a few critters. I miss a lot of great shots driving through our local wildlife refuge when I open the car door to get out to get my digiscoping setup out of the trunk. I'm hoping the 10D/400mm will let me shoot more close birds from the car, using the 10D low noise/high ISO speed advantages.

Really nice shot Gene. Not a hint of chromatic abberation. Reflecting scopes really have the advantage in that department. What was the equivalent focal length of the scope used as the dSLR lens? Is your photo straight from the camera or did you process it?

Some of the best pictures I have are of common birds. This is a great close up. I assume you are coupling your D100 to the C5 without an eyepiece. What is the 35mm equivalent lens focal length of this combo?
