SUV full price write offs. Have any of you fed at this slop trough?

I was at a nice place to shoot small birds one early morning. To my sorrow, I had forgotten I had left my best camera body at a school where I was a visiting artist.

That left me with a spare loaded with 100 ASA film. Predictably, the birds are a bit fuzzy.

I thought I'd share this one anyway, because the rich colors are nice.

I have four major talk and news radio stations in my listening radius. They are all owned by the same company, Disney. Commercials are synchronized. Talking heads are, for three of them, synchronized.

I am lucky and live near San Francisco where that station has it's own hosts. The fare is middle left to middle right during the day and solid left at night.

If it weren't for KGO in S.F., I would only have solid right hosts that are synched on the other three stations. The morning Rush, Dr. Laura is next, then Beck, and capped off by Savage.

What do you all have in your area?

That is what all the far right media is saying (speaking about the Court's ruling on sodomy law of Texas).

I believe the right to privacy is covered through our freedom from unwarranted search and seizure.

I discovered my scanner doesn't do slides well. This is very sharp when projected.

CLARK: I think it was an effort to convince the American people to do something, and I think there was an immediate determination right after 9/11 that Saddam Hussein was one of the keys to winning the war on terror. Whether it was the need just to strike out or whether he was a linchpin in this, there was a concerted effort during the fall of 2001 starting immediately after 9/11 tom pin 9/11 and the terrorism problem on Saddam Hussein.
MR. RUSSERT: By who? Who did that?
GEN. CLARK: Well, it came from the White House, it came from people around the White House. It came from all over. I got a call on 9/11. I was on CNN, and I got a call at my home saying, “You got to say this is connected. This is state-sponsored terrorism. This has to be connected to Saddam Hussein.” I said, “But-I'm willing to say it but what’s your evidence?” And I never got any evidence. And these were people who had-Middle East think tanks and people like this and it was a lot of pressure to connect this and there were a lot of assumptions made. But I never personally saw the evidence and didn’t talk to anybody who had the evidence to make that connection.<<<<

Bush Administration Spends Week Retracting Assertions about Saddam's Threat
to the U.S.

The Bush administration this week backed away from three major rationales for going to war in Iraq last March, undermining its assertions that Hussein's Iraq posed an imminent threat to the United States and its allies.

September 11th

As recently as Sunday, Vice President Cheney, claimed that on the question of Saddam Hussein's involvement in September 11th, "We just don't know."[1] But within days, both President Bush and Defense Secretary Rumsfeld each
admitted there was no evidence that Hussein had any connection. On Wednesday, Bush maintained there was "no evidence" that Hussein was involved.[2] Two days later, Rumsfeld, said, "I've not seen any indication
that would lead me to believe that I could say that."[3]

Yet in March, Hussein's possible involvement in the terrorist attacks garnered support for the war from many Americans. At the time, the widely reported meeting between 9/11 planner Mohammed Atta and Iraq's security
chief in Prague a few months before the attack was found by the CIA not to be credible.[4]

'Reconstituted Nuclear Weapons Program'

Recently, Cheney backed away from the assertion he made three days before the war began, that the strongest reason for going to war was that "we believe [Hussein] has, in fact, reconstituted nuclear weapons."[5] But the
International Atomic Energy Agency reported two weeks before that , "There was no indication of resumed nuclear activities."[6] And six months later on Meet the Press, Cheney said simply, "I misspoke."[7]

Weapons of Mass Destruction

This week, Rumsfeld reversed earlier statements claiming that the U.S. knew where Iraq's weapons of destruction were located. When asked why the weapons hadn't been found, this past Tuesday Rumsfeld said, "What do you mean? You're talking about a country the size of California."[8] Yet months ago, just two weeks into the war, Rumsfeld said, "We know where they are. They are in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat."[9]

Did anyone see the "60 Minutes" piece on the companies Haliburton and Bechtel and how their upper echelons are populated by ex military brass and politicians, and how conversely, Haliburton and Bechtel members sit at Pentegon desks, not to mention the Vice President Chair?
