Coastal Birds of GA

Here's the first - a Sora. Both of these pics were taken by my fiancee Rachel Cass on our recent birding trip to the GA Coast. These were taken at Harris Neck NWR.

Green Heron

Taken 4/4 at Harris Neck NWR by Rachel Cass. I think the reeds in the foreground create a neat effect.

"Beat it, ya jerk!!!"

I just loved this picture when I got home to see what kind of female Summer Tanager images I had. She was very co-operative despite this "outburst" wink

Scissor-Tailed Flycatcher

Posted By ken blankenship

This is not an everyday bird for the Atlanta metro area. The pics are not great, but at least diagnostic of the species. They also just don't give justice to how wild the bird's namesake tail is - but I thought y'all might like to see it.

Grasshopper Sparrow

I found this little guy singing his "insect song" in rural N. Georgia. There were several others.

Technical difficulties...

Posted By ken blankenship

I have tried to post several pictures (maybe 4 total, two incidents over the last month or so)... and my thread never appears in the board. I'm wondering if this text-only will even work. Any trouble-shooting help, anyone?

Chestnut-Sided Warbler

Posted By ken blankenship

Here is the first of a few pictures of breeding birds of Georgia. This species and several other warblers breed only in the mountains at high elevations (at the southern edge of their breeding range).

"Where's mom?!"

Posted By ken blankenship

These two Osprey chicks were hot and looked hungry. Mom was on a tree 20 yds away just hanging out. Taken on Jekyll Island, GA.
