Dew Heater power project

Posted By Ed Fraini

I am about complete on a project to convert an ATX power supple to a supply for my newly installed dew heaters. Since I will have this 12 volt available I would like to run the sky commander off this voltage. Anybody doing that??

DSLR Focus problem

Posted By Ed Fraini

I mounted my new 40d on the DOB for the first time using a 2" close coupler I got from scopestuff.com and I do not have enough back focus to get focus. The focuser is a feather touch. Any suggestions?

JPEG conversion

Posted By Ed Fraini

I am seeing more and more "movies" of the night sky. Some taken with CCD but many with DLSR. I am curious as to what software one would use to produce the movies from jpeg or even raw files.

polar align a celestron c5

The instructions are not very clear, In the raised position should the "high" side of the wedge plate be on the north or south side. If I line up the index marks and shift the tripod/plate to center the north star will I be ready to go??

Carboni photoshop plug ins

Posted By Ed Fraini

Opening Photoshop this morning required me to register the product, strange since I have been running it for months, so I dutifully put in the serial number and opened the app. Then I discovered by Carboni tools had disappeared. So I went to the WEB to get a down load and found that all Neil Carboni web pages have disappeared. Is this plug in no longer available? Anyone know what happened??

Home built Refractor

Posted By Ed Fraini

I have decided to build my own refractor, probably starting with a D&G 6" cell. The question is where to go from here. Can those in the know point me to some resources that will help me with this project?

Mounting of a Robo Focus

Posted By Ed Fraini

I have my DLSR mounted on a Losmandy plate on top of a refractor. I have purchased a Robo Focus that came with a belt and two flat plates. I cannot visualize how to mount the Robo Focus in a way the belt will drive the focus of lenses. If someone could post or send to me some installation pictures it would be greatly appreciated.

Conversion from the past

Posted By Ed Fraini

Back in about 2004 I had a canon 40D modified, but I do not have documentation for what I had done. This is something I want to get sorted out as after all this time I want to start using it on a FSQ106 I recently acquired.

I inquired with Hap Griffin, an obvious choice, but he has no record of doing the conversion for me and as I now sit and think about it I really can not pin it down. So my question is does anyone remember if someone else was active in doing the conversion back in that time frame.

Oh, the reason why...I want to make sure I have the Baader IR/UV filter in place so I can use it effectively with the refractor.

Guide Scope

I did some research on the telrad and was impressed. Thanks for the advice. I do have a 9 X 50 so I will set up with both as suggested.
