When is bigger better?

Posted By Tim Taylor

Hi

Pricing is a big problem over here. Often there is a 1:1 dollar to pound conversion after import costs and duties/taxes have been paid. That makes things almost 30% more expensive for us.

Usually I like to buy really high quality optical goods but my dilemma here is that on my budget, the best quality refractor I could afford would be 3", medium quality 4" and the achromatic is 6" for the same price.

Maybe I'll move to the US!

Great images! How do your best shots with your ED100 compare with these?

Moon phase in hours

Posted By Tim Taylor

Hi

I've discovered some software that does what I need from http://www.nightskyobserver.com/LunarPhaseCD/ . I'm sure there must be free resources but I think this will do what I want and it has the added benefit of a built in lunar atlas.

5-inch Mars (10/15/05)

Wow, great contrast and detail! That extra inch of aperture (and extra quality) makes quite a difference over my 4". grin

Lunar Eclipse Video (of sorts)

Really brings it to life seeing it like that. Time lapse photography here would show clouds and rain at the moment sad
