ReprocessedM81,M82

Hi,
I spent some time reprocessing my M81,M82 data,a lot of time!
I think this one looks much better grin

I also took a look at some of my shots on a nice lcd moniter and was suprised to see such a difference compared to my laptop which I use for all my processing.

If you would,let me know how this looks on your screen?Too bright,too dim or just right?

Hi all,
Here is my latest attempt smile

Luminance is 14x480s RGB 6x300s Both binned1x1

The color data was very weak and I had to stretch it hard to bring out the very faint arms of this galaxy,so it's a little grainy sad

I took flats for all my filters but ended up not using them as they seemed to do more harm than good.While they did get rid of some dust and dew spots they made the background very uneven in illumination from one side of the frame to the other.
Maybe this is from the light pollution gradient in the subs?
Oh well,I'll try again next time!

Hello,

Here it is again grin

Reprocessed from the raw subs.
This time I applied the flats I took and must say,I found the processing to be much easier.
The background and gradient removal in luminance stack in particular was a lot less work.
I spent most of the time trying to bring color into the faint arms and had to push the RGB hard,I think there is just not enough data there to get a good smooth result. :C It's still a bit grainy.

I think this version looks better than my original post.

What do you think?

Hi,
I shot this Tuesday under poor conditions sad

Lots of haze in the sky at first then clearing up with very poor seeing.This combo really killed the resolution and caused a lot of bloating on the brighter stars.

I am going to post two versions of this image,one a little lighter than the other so I can look at both on another moniter.Let me know which one looks better to you?

Here is the specs on the image,
ST-2000xm at prime focus of my TEC140
L-12x600s RGB-6x480s both binned1x1
Darks,alignment and stacking in Images Plus.
I combined this in Photoshop as a LLRGB

No flats for this one,had to get to work before it was light enough!

Comments and suggestions welcomed.

Hi all,

Here's a nice open cluster I shot last night while waiting for NGC 3628 to rise high enough for me to shoot smile

Seeing was not so good.
LRGB L 120sx5 RGB 180sx5 each.Unfortunatly my exposure times were long enough to saturate most the brighter stars in the image sad

NGC 3628 Luminance

Hi,
Here is a luminance only of NGC 3628.
Luminance only because when I shot this last week I made an error in judging how much time I had to shoot this and ended up shooting the 2nd story of my house instead of getting Blue subs!
I plan on getting some color as soon as the moon and weather cooperate.

When I built my pier I put it in the darkest area of my backyard which is also close to my house,I think I may put another in an area that gives me more time to shoot.This will expose me to more of the neighborhood lights though :C

The image is 12 ten minute shots Sigma combined in Images Plus with levels,curves and a little sharpening in PS.

Old Image,New Look

Hi all,
Well, since I've not imaged anything new for awhile I thought I would practice some processing skills,or try to develop some anyway :S
I decided to reprocess an image of M13 I took a few monthes back.It was very noisy and perfect to learn some noise reduction on smile

It is not a very deep image,if I remember right it is 180sx5 RGB.

I am trying to end up with a more natural,not overprocessed result.

What do you think? does it look OK?

Another NGC 3628

Hi,
I finally got some color data for the luminance I shot on this a few weeks back.The skies were clear but seeing was not very good.I spent a lot of time playing with guider settings trying to get round stars,never got it just right.
I had planned on 1 hour RGB but ended up with only 32 minutes each,learned a bunch about guiding though grin

Here are the details
Tec 140 at F7 ST-2000xm
L-600sx12 RGB-480sx4 each bin 1x1
Darks,flats,alignment and stacking in Images Plus
Combined in Photoshop as LLRGB
I had to crop a bit off the edges due to not getting the shot framed just right compared to the luminance image.

I had some rather good conditions on Thursday and tried to take advantage of them.
I spent part of the evening playing with guider settings and thought I had it figured out but I think I ended up going to soft on the settings so this image has some elongated stars,doesn't look to bad at half size though :S

Here are rhe specs.
LRGB
L-180sx17 RGB 180sx10 each,all binned1x1
Tec140 at F7 ST-2000xm

I sharpened this up a lot,hope I didn't go to overboard!
I tried to get some of the stars near the core to become Orange but kept ending up with Pink so I just left them alone.
