Just to follow up on the discussion earlier this week, I took Jon's idea and bought the tilt/pan tripod mount. Only cost 40 dollars. I think it will work out nicely. Together, it weighs a few pounds total.

I am still considering the Microstar.

Included a picture of the new setup.

GTO Wooden tripod for CG5??

Hi,

I ordered the one pictured from Hands on Optics and got something else a lot cheaper and less stable. If you want the one just like in the pic, try this website and order the orange one. It is taller and the hinges are a lot stronger than the one I got from Hands on Optics. I am very happy with mine. It is only $55.
