Buying A Tak mount from Canada

I have located a mount I want to buy from a fellow in Canada. He is concerned that he will need to declare / pay duty on bringing it to the US. (He has a passport, I do not.)
We are considering a meeting in the US near the border.
Seems to me since the mount was imported by Texas Nautical, sold in the US, sold again in the US, then sold to the guy up North who had to pay to "import" it to Canada-
that no declaration or duty is necessary.
Sent an email to Customs very specifically asking this question days ago with no response. Am I surprised at this? 8)
Anyone know the answer?

I had an MN-56 on a Skyview Deluxe last year. Wonderful scope, somewhat marginally mounted. I later had an MN-66 on (briefly) an LXD-75 mount. The go-to feature of the mount was of no use to me as I have too many obstructions in my yard to do an alignment. Sold the mount, then the scope because I no longer owned a mount for it. Wonderful scope, though. Since then I have acquired a G-11, and an MN-76. You see the pattern, here?
Yes, for Planetary, the MN-66 is an enjoyable scope, and at F6, a nice wide field. I would recommend one to you. grin

Hi Tom,

Would you have an objection to mounting the finder lower (closer) to the Primary end of the tube? Perhaps this could help alleviate the 'top-heavy' characteristic of whatever RA finder you choose..... smile

New Scope Buggy assembly advice needed

Hi Jerry,

Back when I had a SB, I used an elastic bungee between the two rear wheels. I stretched it between the big rosette knobs on the back axle. Maybe it wasn't necessary, but I felt a little better having it there... grin
