Philips ToUcam

Posted By Rich Peters

Hi all, I was pulling stuff out of a box today, and found a Philips ToUcam Pro PCVC740K that I had purchased and modified (filter added) to use for basic planetary astro photography a few years ago. I have a Canon Rebel XT I use now, but as I never did use this thing (divorce got in the way), I'd like to play with it a bit. I found a work-a-round for the drivers so I can use my (pos)Vista OS laptop. But I can't find any of the software it came with, and I guess it needs Philips "VRecord" to use the camera(to capture images)? Does anyone know where I can download VRecord from? Or another program that will do the same job? Any other help or suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks...Rich

Speaking of Teflon

Posted By Rich Peters

As the subject of Teflon was being discussed earlier, I was curious to know if anyone has ever tried using "UHMW" in place of Teflon for Az/Alt bearings, etc.? It seems to have very much the same properties as Teflon...but it's sooo much cheaper.

Looking for Chuck Fellows

Posted By Rich Peters

Anyone know how to get in touch with Chuck Fellows? I Emailed him at the last known address I had for him, but with no response. He's the guy who makes all the beautiful scopes out of strips of various wood types. Any help would be appreciated.

Bino collimation

Okay then...(apparently, everyone is too busy anticipating the "Kings" next move/photo/post) smile , could someone tell me what type of place would one "ship" binoculars to in that case, in order to have them collimated ?

It arrived!

Congrats Ron,
Nice scope! But that's the great thing about dobs. When it's cloudy out, you can always find something to tinker with. And I'm sure you'll find a bunch of home brew fixes on this forum for anything you come across with it (such as the "milk carton"). Isn't it just great getting new toys ?!!!
Clear,..(but it's your own fault that it's cloudy because you purchased a new scope),..skies!...Rich smile

Great shot Brian,
I've been so caught up with all the Mars stuff, I'd almost forgot there are other things to see out there. Can you give us some specifics? Scope/camera etc ?

Thanks for the tip Chris. I don't know when, or if I'll ever have a use for your "combo", but it's a good thing to put into my "Bag-O'-Tricks", as you just never know.
