I had one of those with the same problem. My solution was to put a short piece of copper tubing on each (I think) of the axes to prevent the mount from going past the threads in its travel. This seemed to work.

Stellarvue F1001 Red Dot Finder battery life?

Posted By Steven Gaber

It will last a long time as long as you remember to turn it off after a session. But I have forgotten to turn it off on occasion and have found the batteries dead after a few days or a week.

Looking for someone to turn down a refractor end plate by .100" to slip into a slightly smaller tube. Precise Parts seems to be into its online adapter thing that is hard to navigate. Anyone know of someone to do light duty mods such as the above?

Try Crawford Machine Shop. Dan Crawford made a custom focuser for the SN6 I gave to my son and grandchildren. It works great and was less expensive than the imported Chinese ones.

Why not pass on it and let the next person in line have a go? You obviously don't want it.

Rolando

Sounds sensible and fair to me. Why would you think of doing anything else?

New (to me) NS11 GPS with loud motors.

What is an NS11 GPS? Never heard of it.

I just got a NS11 GPS and the noises it makes while tracking drive me up a wall! After some research I assumed MC version 3.0 due to the "bee in a can" description. I just powered it up and went into utilities and there was no "version" option to select from. This would make me think HC version 1.2 and MC version 2.0 or lower, but after going into factory debug mode I found I do in fact have HC version 1.2 and the MC 3.0 version. With that said here are my questions:

1) Since I have HC 1.2 and MC 3.0 can I upgrade the MC to 4.06 via the port on the base of the scope?

1b) Can I select which version I want or do I have to upgrade to the newest?

2) If yes and I do so since I'm keeping HC 1.2 and only upgrading MC will this allow me to keep the GPS Align feature?

3) I see no point in fixing something that isn't broken so provided I can upgrade the MC version (to address the noise) since I don't want to lose the GPS align is there any point in upgrading the HC version?

As a side note, I need a Windows computer to do this, really??!! That's insane, I haven't used a Windows computer in a decade. Also, I'm SHOCKED that with all of us being slight geeks somebody hasn't created a firmware that's keeps the best of all the features Celestron has offered. At least some type of a hack or work around.

Thank you all for reading and for any insight or help you can offer.
