Re: Camera focal length

If you can focus with an EP and diagonal then get yourself a 2" long 2inch extender. That should give you enough additional backfocus for your camera.

Comet Garradd

Posted By Dale Conrad

Managed to get clear skies last night. 12 X 10min exposures. Wished my Starshoot Autoguider was a little more sensitive, but PHD did a pretty good job of guiding on the comet.

M71

12X5 minute exposures were stacked and preprocessed with Nebulosity.
Final processing was done with Cannon DPP.
A Baader Moon/SkyGlow filter was used with a Skywatcher 120ED scope and Borg 0.85 reducer flattener.
The mount was an older Mountain Instrument tangent arm equatorial mount guided with a Borg 77ACH guide scope with Orion Star Shoot autoguider.
This is a 100% crop from the original image.

Comet Garrard Aug 20

Tried c2009/P1 again.
Tracking on the comet worked fairly well considering the density of the star field.
Managed to get eight 5 minute exposures in a row so the star tracks weren't aall broken up,
Finally had to stop taking exposures when I couldn't buck a star in the guide field.
8X5min exposures with a Hutech Canon 40D (clear filter) and Skywatcher 120ED with Borg 7887 reducer/flattener.

Hutech modified Canon 40D with clear filter.
Overstretched a bit.

This after telling the Mexican Press that there were American undercover agents working in northern Mexico a couple of weeks ago?? 8O 8O
In President Obamas defense I will have to say the BATF has a long history of making bone headed moves all on their own. Usually in an effort to grab some headlines when the appropriations committe is considering their budget. grin
