My first ISS

ISS last night with C8 at f/11 to Mallincam Hyper Plus recorded with an Arcus 605. Single frame grabbed with Framegrab 4.2. Minimum distance about 360 miles. To guide I duct taped a 3 foot piece of aluminum tubing to the C8 base plate and guided with a Telrad.

Uhhhh ....Weather not climate. highest temp in Memphis was in 1980 at 108 degress.

C8 optimum back focus

Rod- do you have handy the design spec for optimum back focus for a C8 for the correct mirror spacing to get minimum spherical abberation. As I recall it's 5" from the rear cell threads but I can't find it. By the way, It has long been my contention that when people test their SC's correction they NEVER confirm that they are at optimum mirror spacing. I thought mine was mearly good (about 1/6 wave) but a few months ago in excellent seeing I was useing a 2" rear tailpiece, I think a Teleview 2" diagonal, and a TMB 4mm eyepiece and I checked collimation and the star test was PERFECT!!! By chance I found the perfect spacing. I think it is much more critical than most people think. Thanks, Charles

Need to change an Astromart rating

Herb- I purchased a Meade LXD 55 mount from Donnie Thompson and he promised to get it out ASAP. But after 2 weeks and no response to emails or phone calls I posted a bad note on his profile. Of course the next day he contacted me to apologize because he fixes electronic problems on nuclear subs and had to emergently ship out to fix a problem on the newest Virginia class attack sub, Hawaii and was unable to contact me - I presume he was under the ocean! I received the mount yesterday and need to make a correction or addendum to his profile but I can't figure out how to get to it. Thanks for your help. Missile launched 35 miles off the coast of California for everyone to see today- almost certainly from a foreign government submarine for our amusement. My best guess is 1. Iran, 2.North Korea, 3.China..."shot across our bow?"

Heads up! The "volcanic eruptions" or whatever they are have begun on Jupiter and the SEB should start to reform- should be back around on our side in the next 2-3 days. This is the first time in history this has occurred with us having web-cams. Don't miss this!
