larger dobs and finders

I think every telescope benefits from an optical finder, even smaller ones. Just last night I was using my 92mm refractor to look for a faint cluster with only the help of a Rigel Quikfinder. Even though I knew the cluster's location to within a degree or so, I had to hunt around quite a while with only the imprecise guidance of the Rigel. With an optical finder in addition I could have zeroed in on the correct starfield much more easily. Right angle correct image finders are the best.

That's a pretty strange looking image, Roland. The stars (the white ones anyway) all appear to be about the same brightness, giving the impression of a field of speckles rather than stars. It looks more like the result of manipulating the Photoshop noise filter than an astrophoto. Just my perspective as a space artist...

The 6" will absolutely outperform either of those refractors. It's a huge aperture advantage.
