The Science of GodPosted By Thomas Marshall |
"Always, no sometimes, think it's me -- But you know I know when it's a dream -- I think I know I mean a "yes" but it's all wrong -- That is I think" that I agree. I think the first step to unifying "GOD" and Science, is to get our Math right. You know, - like Martin Struther asking Paul Newman, - You got your Math right Luke?? So we start by moving a few comma's periods, etc. etc. in the "Book of John", AND change JOHN 3:16, to JOHN 3:14. No real re-write, just changing the format. NOW we got "For GOD so loved the world, that HE gave HIS only begotten SON, that whosoever believeth in HIM shall not perish but have everlasting life. JOHN 3:14, -- AND Math says PI is equal to 3.14---------forever, so these two will match and these two eternals will be interlocked, combining Science of belief with science of Math. Yeah BOSS, I got my Math right, PLEASE let me out of this HOLE!! Thomas 8)

Astro Binoculars
New Old Bushnell Ensign 7x50sPosted By Thomas Marshall |
Wow! Binoc's 25 yrs old, NIB. That's cool. You can see if you can locate some of those deep sky objects you've been showing us pictures of. I have 7x50's with individual focus that do great at night, - terrible for close focus stuff though. On a good dark night you can see a lot, and it will give a different perspective from your scopes. I also have 15x70's and 10x42's, and 25x100's. For scanning star fields and locating globs/open clusters and stuff like m51/81/82/33/101/ etc. especially M31, I really like the 15x70's. They are not to big to use with a light tripod or monopod and the extra light gathering gives some great views. You like to dive into the deep end first with your scopes and photo equipment, and just now are using binoc's for the first time? 8O Thomas M

Freakin Unbelievable...Posted By Thomas Marshall |
What's "Freakin Unbelievable"? Hawaii over run by Japanese warplanes in 1941 was a problem, and I'm sure many people there think Hawaii over run by hotels, condo's, timeshares and tourists and light pollution and traffic and everything else IS a problem, - but one they can do little to change, BUT with 13 telescopes up there already, MAYBE some think the "SPECIAL INTERESTS" of astronomy are being sufficiently catered to. How much public access do these 13 sites provide?? Long lines on the third Saturday to take a peak?? I don't know, but I can certainly find it believable that locals might not ALL be astro-nerds, and want their few mountains to provide for other interests also. :S Thomas M.Rod Kaufman said:
This is what a "worldwide" protest is all about:

It's obviously not a problem if Hawaii is over run by hotels, condos, timeshares and tourists and the light pollution and traffic and everything else that goes with it, BUT that 14% of area that might be glimpsed as a telescope is the last straw...

Happy 4th from your best neighbourPosted By Thomas Marshall |
Well, - Let's see. Truckloads of cocaine/marijuana, 20 million strong thundering herd demanding to run things for us, and assume our identities and lives, - salsa and taco's, - against Ekati diamonds, Justin Beiber, Neil Young and Snow Birds and Maple Syrup. - Okay, - You ARE our best neighbor.
Nice birthday card. Thomas M.

Eyepieces
zoom eyepiecesPosted By Thomas Marshall |
LOL, - Is it still true that there is no such thing as a "stupid question"? Some pictures I've seen of these zooms, show a 11/4" barrel inside, with a 2" barrel around the inside barrel, - but the interior lens is enclosed completely within the 11/4" barrel, so intuitively it seems the 2" is only a adapter to let it be used on a 2" tube, but optically it is still stepped down to 11/4" aperture. Do they make one the other way around, - a full 2" zoom that you can then step down to 11/4" if desired?? :S Thomas M.

Question, - Are all the photo's I see posted from various sources that show "star spikes" an added artistic device? I just assumed I was seeing these great images because of superior optics/APO/ and perfect resolution?? Are they ALL doctored up? Thomas

No eclipse for mePosted By Thomas Marshall |
It was really good here in Spring Valley AZ. Almost a dozen of the seniors here grabbed their chairs and drinks and sat thru a good portion of it. We didn't use telescopes but I had 15x70 binnoc's on a tripod that I passed around. They all seemed to enjoy it, though very few had any astro-experience. I was impressed how good the view was of the sky during full eclipse. The milky way was bright, M31 easily located naked eye, M33 easy and large with the 15x70's, - but I forgot to see if it was visible naked eye. The best for me was the stars nearby the moon during the event. It was cool just looking at the faint stars near its rim. Some of the idea's of just what it was all about were a little hard to listen to, but everyone had their voice and it was fun to watch and listen. All of it was surprisingly good to experience.
