You exercised the rule by spreading your gold the way you did. That's the "American Way".

Not normally. There is a dollar limit you can import into the US without paying duty. There is also an "education and technology" exemption which most astro equipment would fall under if it went over this limit. This is for an individual only, I'm sure there are taxes and duties that businesses have to pay regardless.

I had good luck setting up my LX50 by:
First set your DEC setting circle, just place fork mount on a level surface, with the tube pointing straight up put a level across the front perpendicular to the DEC axis and level by turning the tube in DEC. Set your DEC degree wheel to 90.
With DEC set to 90 and scope mounted on wedge center Polaris in the scope using the adjustments on the wedge. Now manually move the scope in DEC setting the pointer up against the 89 mark, so you will be at 89 plus the thickness of the pointer (line). Now turn forks in RA so they are perpendicular with the pointer stars of the Big Dipper and the tube pointed away from them (if you were to reset the DEC to 90 you would have to move the tube toward the Big Dipper). Now just recenter polaris in the scope using the wedge adjustments again and you will be real close to the NCP.

I hope the government does nothing about it. It would be handled much better in the private sector. You think all the oil and chemical companies are just sitting on the tax breaks they've gotten? A strong R&D program assures their and our future.

But, I guess it will be better when Kerry is President. He will get all his allies to come together and send Afghanistan a big box of instant-democracy.

It's over. The last undecided voter was killed in an automobile accident yesterday in Ohio. Fear not though, the Soros group ACT has registered him six times as a Democrat, so his vote will be counted and counted often.
Righties and lefties are just preaching to their respective choirs now. If the righties can keep some of the minority voters home and get all overseas military votes counted the President will win.
If the lefties can block the overseas military votes from being counted and get a large minority block to the polls, Senator Kerry will win.
So it looks like the Supreme Court will let us know who is the next President by the first of the year. Congress will be on Christmas vacation from November 1st till January 15th (oops I said Christmas vacation, I meant winter break), they will let us know who the "real" next President is by inauguration.
