Wood finish upper cage rings and focuser board

Posted By Jim Moscheck

I used Spar Urethane sprayed on in many thin coats. I sure there are at least 8 light coats on my dob and some parts like the UTA rings probably have more like 10+ coats. No stain used and it has the satin finish. Four years later and the scope finish looks like the day it was, well, finished grin .

Re: star like object seen breaking up

Yeah, I saw the same thing two years ago and got a couple of hand held pics through the scope. Not the best quality but it shows what happened.

Jess: Looked more like the death star than Vulcan. In the second pic you can almost make out the Luke's X Wing fighter escaping the blast.

What audio equipment do you own?

Posted By Jim Moscheck

Audio only two channel system:

Marantz 2238 receiver,
Monitor Audio BR6 speakers,
My son's old Imac as music server running itunes with all CDs imported using Apple Lossless encoder,
and Oppo DV-980H to play basically any format disk except blu-ray.

Looking for a nice turntable for a small collection of LPs that haven't been played since the early 90's.

Not once, not once, does the article mention that Ford posted a $1+ billion dollar profit, and doesn't owe the taxpayers one dime in loans!

That's the reason my next work van and small car will be a Ford, but then again I am deeply embedded in Ford country and many of my customers either work there or used to.

Now if they could just do something about those stinking Lions... grin

Intermission

Sometimes this forum, and others, gets heated and nasty. How about taking a deep breath? I offer this for intermission:
Men go thru 4 stages of life.
1. They believe in Santa Claus
2. They don't believe in Santa
3. They become Santa Claus
4. They look like Santa Claus
grin I'm right in between three and four.

McCain's Adviser's On Palin

Posted By Jim Moscheck

Sarah Palin: the gift that keeps on giving. grin

I really could have voted for McCain until he picked her up out of the moose meadow. A VP isn't really important (unless you are a puppetmaster like you know who) and with JM's age I couldn't conscientiously vote for the GOP ticket.

I'll probably start watching Fox News more often. Can't wait for the in depth commentary.

Common Sense Words from 2 Republicans

Posted By Jim Moscheck

I sure wish that some of the more vocal conservatives on this forum didn't conveniently ignore this thread.

The blog by David Frum sure does make a lot of sense and I wonder if backlash against the "party of no" will be felt in the ballot box. Depends what happens between now and then. The one thing they can't do is to stay disengaged from the process. Unfortunately old Rushbo will just tell them what to do, or not do, anyway.
