Glad to hear that you are feeling better. I had a "cold" between Christmas and New Years that could have been Omicron. I had the right symptoms, but of course it could have been a cold too. Home tests are nowhere to be found at the local Walgreens/Walmart/CVS etc. I did not feel nearly bad enough to bother a hospital or Dr. for a test, so I may never know.
I agree with most of the quote above, but as far as I can tell, with a few reasonable exceptions, the US and Colorado have petty much gotten back to normal. The sporting events are playing to packed arenas, some people mask, some don't. I wore a mask the last time I flew (Thanksgiving) and I wore a mask to the eye doctor a few weeks ago, according to their policies. Otherwise, I have a mask in my pocket when I go out, but I generally don't wear it. Hardly like being locked up in a pen. Not for me at least.
Our office, per state regulations requires masks or proof of vaccination to enter the building. This too is a pretty minor inconvenience. Most everyone is vaccinated and lots of us are still working from home anyway.
I'm not sure if Omicron will kill far less than influenza, but I hope you are right. I read an article the other day noting that there are 4 broad strains or families of coronavirus that cause the common cold. Of course they mutate all the time, but there were four ancestral strains. The epidemiologist who wrote the article speculated that each of these strains might have caused it's own pandemic killing many when that particular coronavirus crossed over for the first time into the human population. Now after 1000s of years of coexistence we just have to deal with annual colds. Covid 19 might be headed that way, with Omicron being a good step along the path. Let's hope so. Jim
