trying to post my dome for sale- How do you uploa

Posted By Greg Shaffer

Once you do figure out the picture process and you are ready to post the ad you will need to remove both your phone # and the outside email address otherwise your ad will not stay up long....it will be deleted. You may want to read the TOS.

Delete and Repost

Read the TOS.....no rules against that.....matter of fact per the TOS you can post the item once per day as many times as you care to.....

Has anyone but me noticed that certain individuals delete their ad and repost it when it starts to move down the list- Why is this tolerated??, I would assume its not supposed to be done??

Cg-5GT Heavy duty German equatorial mount

Posted By Greg Shaffer

Seems you have been asking about this all over the place....google found a number of sites....Surely someone has given you the bad news already. But it was designed to work from 30 to 60 or so.....as you said you were able to gain a couple degrees by removing the adjustment bolt but you really are pretty much out of luck beyond that.

Hi guys! Just got this new telescope a celestron C6 -SGT With a german goto equatorial mount. So far i am still struggling with the alignment, and it woul be great if you guys could give me some advice. First problem is that the altitude axis on the mount does not go below 30 degrees, so I removed the front altitude screw, and now I can go down to 28, which is suboptimal as my latitude is N 20. I wander if this difference is important enough to mess up with the entire alignment. Should I polar align the telescope with polaris, or not? Is it important to point the telescope towards Polaris before start the 2 star alignment process, or any position is ok? I am pretty sure I am putting the coordinates, date, and time correctly, and I am following all the alignment steps as instructed in the manual, but w/o good results. Another question is can I replace the telescope bar counter weight to a lighter one? The one that came with the telescope weights 11lb. If so what is the minimum weight that I can use, given my OTA is a C6? A telrad, finder scope and a diagonal are the only extras.
I might be messing up somewhere, because even centering the objects in the eyepiece using the directional buttons, and Adding 3 calibrating stars the goto accuracy still sucks, with an error of around 20 degrees. PLEASE somebody help!!!

Thanks for reading!

Gustavo

Am I doing it wrong?

Posted By Greg Shaffer

If I read you correctly your "I will take it" messages are pretty much just that....Most of the time I am prepared to make immediate payment when I respond and if I am not I state exactly what the plan is up front.....

This sounds like you simply stated "I will take it" with no indication how or when you intend to follow thru....I can see what you describe happening in some instances particularly if you are dealing with someone who had been around the block a time or two and perhaps been burned before by someone who didnt follow thru....I have not had this happen to me but I would say you should perhaps try being more concise than just stating I will take it in your initial message

Why does my ad disappear ?

Posted By Greg Shaffer

All ads are visible to the public for 90 days unless either you delete it or it is removed for a TOS violation. If you can still see it under my classifieds then it has simply timed out....after 90 days its still there but only available via the search function.

The default view is for 15 days or so.....however if you read the options at the top of the page when viewing a category there is an option to tell the system to display the last 30, 60 or 90 days which anyone can use.....

Am I just cranky?

Posted By Greg Shaffer

If the response on the 1st was as non-chalant as you put it then he gets 4 stars max and a matter of fact explanation as to why in his feed back.

The 2nd one doesnt fit the bill. I dont expect someone to run to the PO the same day....if it takes a couple days (they are in fact not just around the corner for some folks) I dont have any issue with that....and usually tell them that both for their benefit and my own....ie it establishes I have a resonable expection that it gets shipped within a couple days. There are any number of reasons why it could take 5 days and I have seen it do so a number of times for priority from CA to GA or vice versa....

Soooooo

#1 perfectly within your rights to be peeved about it

#2 you are being cranky smile

placing an add

Usually when you hit enter for the last time...... Could have been deleted if you put any personal info or links to outside sites or your phone # etc or if you didnt put an asking price on it.
